Just Too Funny!,
This review is from: More Memoirs of a Papillon: Diary of a Mad Dog (Paperback)
As a dog lover I have to say this book is one of the best books I have read in a long time. I giggled my way through it enjoying every single page and every single observation that our dear little canine friend had to give about these things called, "humans," and the way they live life. After hearing her take on a few things I actually wondered if perhaps she wasn't correct. Scary thought isn't it?
The chapter on "Marriage," is just plain outrageous and I wonder if my dogs have the same thoughts as Genevieve does on this subject; they probably do. If you want to read a book that will just bring you pure reading pleasure, this is the one for you. You certainly will smile and giggle a lot, but you just might close this work with a new outlook on just why humans do things the way they do. One never knows. Highly recommended.

After reading "Memoirs of a Papillon: The Canine Guide to Living with Humans
without Going Mad" I was very anxious to read Mr Fried's sequel. I was disappointed in his second effort. I felt it was more Mr. Fried's pholosphy on life and not enough anecdotes of Genevieve's life experiences. I couldn't put down the first book and laughed till my sides hurt. I even bought several editions to give to friends. As a papillon owner, I could really relate to his firt book. I'm sorry to say, Mr Fried's second effort didn't live up to his first. I hope he tries again.

Genevieve is right on!,
This review is from: More Memoirs of a Papillon: Diary of a Mad Dog (Paperback)
If you have never owned a papillon, you will find this book to be funny. However, if you have a papillon, you will understand exactly where Genevieve is coming from. So many of her tales remind me of one of my three papillons or of one of the rescues that I have fostered. This is a truly great book and is an easy read after a long, hard day at work.
My two favorite chapters in the book were the one on marriage, as seen from a canine prospective, and the one on exercise, especially since I am one who dislikes it. Read the book. You will see.

Genevieve is at it again! A thoroughly delightful read, following up on the first book written with the assistance of her adoring "dad" Dennis. This book will leave you laughing even if you aren't lucky enough to share your life with a Papillon.

This is a follow-up book of the adventures of Genevieve the Papillon. I happen to own one of these dogs and they "truly" are off-beat little dogs. Actually, they are downright "weird."
Dennis Fried has truly captured the essence of the breed. A great book for any dog-lover but an AWESOME book if you're familiar with the breed.

It's a hoot!,

Dog lovers unite! Humans, stand guard.
If Genevieve, a very sassy, sarcastic and rude Papillion has her way, all our human frailties will be front and center. A Papillion is a cute little dog with big ears that look sort of like a butterfly, (Papillion is French for butterfly.) The person who Genevieve owns, Dennis Fried, has a darn good deal. He can spout off about all kinds of things--and safely do it all in the dog's name and voice. Gee, wish I would have thought of that instead of always biting my tongue instead of saying something about stupid people doing stupid things. This second Genevieve book starts with the premise: Why ever human needs to read this book. Some of the chapters include: Manners, Restaurants, Entertainment, Supermarkets, Marriage, Exercise--each told from the four-legged perspective. If a human said (okay, a human says it since dogs don't actually talk) these things, they would be sued, or at least challenged by their families, friends and neighbors. My favorite part was "Ask Genevieve," since I am an advice column junkie. I love reading those columns about stupid people and revel in the fact that I don't recognize myself in any of them. This section is Genevieve's monthly web column with questions from dogs with problems (or as they say, issues). Wait, my own cunning bichon frise wants to read that section.... Armchair Interviews says: It's a hoot if you are a dog lover. I wonder if my dog would let me be rude in his name?

I've personally met Genevieve, not only is she very intelligent and talented, she is a beauty as well.
Her new book is hilarious overall. In particular, I enjoyed the chapter on her observations of human marriage. I couldn't stop laughing, yet I couldn't put the book down...it was painful! You will get a clear view of her intelligence and determination when she manipulated Denny off the couch when he was sick with the flu. Bev Post Glenmont, NY

Another delightful look into Miss Genevieve's world through her eyes. She doesn't miss much and definitely tells it like it is. This little Papillon (7 lbs on a good day...) will have you laughing out loud. If you are owned by or know a Papillon (Ms. Poppyseed and Mr. Ricco, that means you!), prepare to double the laugh quotient!
Ms. G. will personally "paw" gift copies, too.

Just when you thought it was safe...,
This review is from: More Memoirs of a Papillon: Diary of a Mad Dog (Paperback)
...to let your cat outside, she's back: Genevieve, the chic six-pound Papillon whose bite is way worse than her bark. In her debut (Memoirs of a Papillon: The Canine Guide to Living with Humans without Going Mad), I thought Genevieve had covered it all, but here she truly leaves no bone unturned. The myriad foibles and failings of Homosapiens and Felidae are ruthlessly skewered with a wit and tenacity that leaves the competition chasing their tails. Unabashedly politically-incorrect, she hangs her hapless human - ahem - "owners" out to dry, and takes on all comers with a smirk and a shrug...and one paw tied behind her back. Make friends with her now, before she starts the rough draft for Volume III!

Loved it! Genevieve keeps growing and getting smarter! It's such a shame she has to work so hard to train her humans :O)
Thanks for the laughs. |
