The More the Merrier means that when a lot of people play together, individual energies become a synergistic phenomenon and the combined energy of two or more players is greater than the sum of their individual effects. The sound of ten players laughing, when increased to 100 players laughing, creates a level of enjoyment and connection that engages people s attentions and emotions in a compelling way. The More The Merrier is a book of activities, and MORE. It s sequentially divided into chapters leading you, from thinking about leading large groups, to actually doing it. We strive to add the underpinnings, the reasons why as well as the how. Writing this book has helped the authors be better leaders, as we translate what we often do intuitively, to a balance of words that hopefully, inform and inspire. The More The Merrier means that more players are not an obstacle to play, but something to celebrate. In the ideal global picture, people who love to play will invite more people to play, and those players will include even more players. We don t propose that large group play is an answer to world peace, though it could be a kinesthetic catalyst to peace among groups of every size. Dr. Chris Cavert is an internationally known speaker, trainer and author in the area of Adventure-Based Experiential Activity programming. He focuses on using adventure education to develop pro-social community building skills within groups of all ages. Chris' educational doctorate is in the area of curriculum and instruction with a focus on adventure education. He also holds a Masters degree in Experiential Education and is the author and developer of over a dozen adventure-based education publications and products. A Surprisingly Complete Guide to Meaningful Mayhem,

Leading games is an art. Especially when you are leading games for large groups. Especially for very large groups - like, say, 1000 people. An art that can set the tone for an entire day or weekend or weeklong conference - for just about any organization, profit or non, kids or grown-ups. An art that requires years to master and that only a master player can teach.
Unless you happen to have a copy of this book - an impressively extensive, well-organized, carefully detailed, and often minutely scripted facilitation guide to games and exercises for large groups. The authors are all themselves master players - and their mastery, based on years of direct experience leading large groups, is deep enough to have been built on the wisdom of other master players, including some of the leading thinkers in experiential education and group facilitation, and, in some small part, those of the people who carried on the work of the New Games Foundation, which includes the mastery of in some other small part, mine. Sikes, Evans and Cavert are some of the best teambulders around,wonderful to have insights from all three.The book actually covered more than I needed ( philosphy of experiential ed., co-facilitation,pre-group work sheet..but all were very imformative!) which would make it a great resource for some one new to leading activities with groups. I found a fair amount of new activities,appreciated the variations that were always offered and the time it generally took to run the activity.There are great quotes thruout the book that I really enjoyed to use for group processing.The book is worth the price especially for a new facilitator!
