Working Moms' Saving Grace,

This review is from: More Milk Plus Alcohol Free 2 oz. (Motherlove) (Health and Beauty)
I tried this supplement out of desparation. Within a couple of weeks of going back to work full-time, I was having difficulty pumping enough milk to send with my son to daycare each day. I was depleting the frozen milk I'd stored up during my leave and needed serious help to avoid supplementing with formula. From the first time I used More Milk Plus, I saw results. I nearly doubled my daily yield and have been at least a day ahead with my milk storage ever since.

It works!,

My first born is 4 months old and my milk supply has been dropping. I've had to go to my reserve milk just to supplement breastfeeding. I decided to talk to my doctor about this and she prescribed Reglan to increase my milk production- it worked-but as soon as my 10 day dosage was up my milk went low again. I decided to try More Milk Plus after reading reviews and doing research. I take the dosage for women over #175(even though I do not weigh that much) and I noticed an increase in my milk in about a day. The only problem is I have to take it continuously to keep my milk production going. The taste is terrible but knowing I can breastfeed my baby and pump at night after she goes to bed makes every bad taste worth it. It's expensive but I don't think it's as expensive as buying formula. I also have tried Fenugreek pills and the More Milk Tea(name?) but nothing works as well as this. I like the liquid better than the capsuls only becaus it's very easy to take and it works fairly quickly. Hope this helps. I actually buy mine from Whole Foods- I just wanted to comment on this product because I understand how frustrating it is to want to breastfeed but can't.

I ordered this product at the recommendation of another nursing mom. At about 8months my milk supply slowed down. I felt sad but was ok with the thought of supplementing with formula. Baby would have NOTHING to do with this idea! I tried nettles tea and fenugreek supplements with little improvement. The more milk plus significantly improved my production and after 48 hours I was able to cut back the dose. Baby THANKS YOU!!

I have PCOS and with my first daughter, I had really low milk production. I went back to work when she was 9 weeks old and within about 2 weeks of returning to work, I was getting about 2 oz. of expressed milk over a 9 hour period. I was devastated. I really wanted to be able to breast feed my daughter for 6 months and to have lost my milk supply after less than 3 was really hard for me.
I did some research and tried taking the More Milk Plus capsules, but I think by that point, my supply was too far gone. I ordered the liquid when I found out I was pregnant again. I really wanted to give breastfeeding a good chance with this child. My daughter was born 6 weeks premature and even though she's only 2 weeks old and I haven't been able to breast feed, I'm pumping religiously. I'm currently producing about 25 - 30 oz. of breast milk a day. The lactation consultant in the NICU is amazed by the amount of milk I'm producing (and the nurses all laugh when they look in our fridge in the room). She's also very impressed by the quality of the milk. She said that it's not watery at all and looks very good. I'm pumping every 3 hours right now and get between 3 and 4 oz. every time (I skip my middle of the night pumping, but get about 7 - 8 oz. in the morning). I am absolutely amazed by the complete turn around in my milk production. I started taking More Milk Plus within 24 hours of my daughter's birth and even though I wasn't even getting colostrum the first 2 days, by the time she hit a week old, I was getting about 20 oz. a day. I hate the flavor of it, but I take a swallow of water after I take it and I'm completely fine taking it if it means that my daughter will be benefitting from my breast milk.

My baby is a month old and my milk supply took a major nosedive, he was eating a 3 oz bottle after nursing for nearly an hour! My lactation consultant recommended More Milk Plus and so my husband brought some home for me. I took ONE DOSE that night and woke up with a full milk supply! I have only taken 3 doses (over 3 days) and my milk supply is fully back, and baby is getting satisfied now~ Thanks~

My son was in the NICU for 25 days and I was not allowed to breastfeed him because of his condition the entire time. Needless to say, pumping was not keeping my supply up and I started to get smaller and smaller amounts everyday that passed. I bought More Milk Plus and saw an increase the same day. FYI, it works best if you take without food or water as directed.

Within 24 hours, my supply increased and I had to stop taking it because I was becoming engorged
I also did some additional 5 min pumping after feeding so I'm sure that helped increase supply as well. I wish I bought the smaller oz bottle because I haven't had to take it since, but I highly recommend it! Make sure to follow instruction and not take any liquids within 15 min

I was having issues with my milk and tried this product and went from only 2oz back to 5oz that I had started from. Taste is bad but you get used to it.

i have found this product to be very effective. I take a dose at every feeding and find that it has really increased my supply. If you are having problems with your milk supply you should read this book The Breastfeeding Mother's Guide to Making More Milk: Foreword by Martha Sears, RN . It has made all the difference for me and it makes increasing your milk supply and then maintaining it very manageable and practical.

A co-worker told me of this product after I complained about my decreasing supply for my 5-6 month old (at the time). Fast forward 4-5 months and this product has really helped me. I have had zero supply concerns since starting this supplement. That said, you can't expect this supplement to do everything for you. You still need to consume adequate fluids (or your body won't have any fluids to make milk regardless of whether or not you take the supplement) and avoid salt as much as possible. I will be using this product until I'm done nursing my babe.
UPDATE 7/18/2011 I'm still taking this MotherLove More Milk Plus Liquid. I didn't comment on the taste in my original review and I feel I should comment on that as well as how things are going now that some more time has passed. As everyone else has stated it does taste horrendous. However, it's just a little dropper full of liquid. The instructions say to avoid consuming more than 2 oz of fluid 15mins before or after taking the supplement. I normally don't drink anything until 15 mins after (despite the awful taste). However, I have taken a small sip of water and it does, in my opinion, take away the worst of the taste in your mouth. If it's still bugging you after 15 mins you can always chug a bunch of water then---and that will be great for increasing your supply too! I have noticed that it seems like Motherlove needs to build up in your system before you see the effects. I have gone on a 1-2 week hiatus from using the Motherlove a couple of times. My supply seems to slowly decrease. Then when I finally bite the bullet and start using it again b/c my supply just isn't there it take 2-3 days of consistently taking the motherlove and remembering to drink enough fluids before I start to see a significant increase in my supply. So, if it doesn't work for you right away, try to give it a little more time. This might sound like a huge pain, but for me it's worth it. I guess everyone needs to weight their own priorities in determining if it's right for them. In my opinion it's really important to feed my son breast milk until he's one year old PLUS the cost of formula is way too high for our income. Those things make this supplement "worth it" for me. |
