5.0 out of 5 stars Deke and the boys never fail to please!
I first heard of Deke Dickerson and the Ecco-Fonics when they rolled through town about one year ago...my friends and I were instantly addicted. This is the best new music we had heard in years! You can sing along, dance to it, and just have a plain ol' good time listening to it! Their first album has reached legendary status with the local rockabilly's. And this...

2.0 out of 5 stars Over-hyped and gimmicky
I ran out and got this record as soon as I heard it was out...boy was I disappointed! Generic covers songs (Let the Good Times Roll). Goof Ball novelty stuff Like the Beverly HillBillies Theme, "My Name is Deke", etc. Deke is hailed as retro rivalist, this sounds more like schtik!

It does have good production and the playing is top notch of course. I just...

And this second album is well on its way. The lyrics and music are well-written and entertaining for your listening pleasure! "More Million Sellers" is rock n' roll at its best! Buy it and enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Deke is back!, October 26, 1999

Guitar-fiends and fans of roots rock'n'roll take note - Deke Dickerson is back with another fabulous album. As anyone who has checked out his incredible live show will know, Deke Dickerson is great fun to listen to, whether he's hamming it up or shredding on the guitar. Some live favorites are here, and some great guest appearances (eg. Billy Zoom from X) ... if you get the chance to see Deke live, PLEASE GO, because for all the energy and fun he packs into his recordings, he's even better live. Until he comes to your town, however, you need to take a listen to Deke's "...Million Sellers".

5.0 out of 5 stars Freaky Deke !, December 26, 1999

Deke comes to Nashville a lot, and I try to catch him everytime he's in town. His live shows are always energetic and exciting and just plain fun. I like the Jerry Lee Lewis inspired tracks on the cd and the goofy stuff like My Name Is Deke (and I am freaky ? ). However, he truly shines on the track I Gave My Heart Before. That is the song that made me sit back and say, hey, he's not just a goofball, he has a great voice and he's quite the songwriter. How do you spell fun ? DEKE. Maybe someday he'll get the radio exposure he deserves.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you don't like the cd cover, you won't like the music!!!!, June 20, 2005
This review is from: More Million Sellers (Audio CD)
The cover of the cd if hilarious, a throwback to a Les Paul or Joe Maphis lp cover from the 50's. The music is honky tonk western swing. The music sounds like 1954 period, and Deke's vocals are warm and friendly, and yes he does sound like he's constantly smiling! A great album, with awesome pounding piano by Carl Sonny Leyland. A great duet with jazz legend Hadda Brooks. Great cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars The finest retro style performer today!, June 3, 2004

This review is from: More Million Sellers (Audio CD)
This cd is simply irresitible! Deke Dickerson's guitar playing covers styles ranging from Muddy Waters to Les Paul! In fact you could say he's the Les Paul of teh new millenium. Deke also has an appealing voice and sings like any number rockabilly and hillbilly singers who recorded on Sun Records in the 50's. He covers every style of retro music from Louis Jordan(Let The Good Times Roll) to Les Paul & Mary Ford(It's A Beautiful Day). In fact one of the many highlights of the disc is the Les Paul & Mary Ford inspired "It's A Beautiful Day", also a delightful duet with r&b queen Hadda Brooks(Cadillac), a great cd, that sounds as if it could have been recorded in 1954, complete with echoed vocals, and retro guitar licks. a very pleasing cd, with nothing but the best jazz, swing, blues, and rockabily msuicians of Orange County and Los angeles! A perfect cd, for people who love to live the retro lifestyle. If only there were more srtists liek Deke, evertything about this cd is 50's, from the awesome 50's lp recreation cover artwork. Let's put it this way if you don't like the cover picture then maybe you won't liek the music, it's a lot of fun, and loaded with humor, and a lot of hillbilly boogie like early Tennessee Ernie Ford, great stuff!!!
