5.0 out of 5 stars The way rap should be...
This CD in my opinion is near perfect. A CD containing "Shook Ones Pt.2" (one of the greatest rap tunes ever??), "Juicy", "Runnin", "Feel Me Flow", "Bring Da Pain" and "C.R.E.A.M" should be re-titled "Classic Hip-Hop". All the tracks in 8 Mile were dope, but the only thing I can find wrong with this CD is that there are many great songs missing:

South Central...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good soundtrack
This soundtrack is very good, but if you like hip hop you should own every track on the artists Lp since these songs are basicly classics. How ever, the soundtrack is very good, but still is missing tracks like O.C - Times up, Onyx - Last Days and Showbiz and AG - Next Level....wich were one of the best from the movie .....why is that!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: More Music From 8 Mile (Audio CD)
This CD in my opinion is near perfect. A CD containing "Shook Ones Pt.2" (one of the greatest rap tunes ever??), "Juicy", "Runnin", "Feel Me Flow", "Bring Da Pain" and "C.R.E.A.M" should be re-titled "Classic Hip-Hop". All the tracks in 8 Mile were dope, but the only thing I can find wrong with this CD is that there are many great songs missing:

South Central Cartel - Gang Stories (the track Free World play in their car)
Onyx - Last Dayz (the beat behind Eminem's 2nd battle)
Showbiz & A.G. - Next Level (the beat behind Eminem's 1st battle)
O.C. - Time's Up (the beat behind the battle where Em chokes)
Cypress Hill - Insane In The Brain
Notorious BIG - Who Shot Ya

If u wanted Eminem's songs, then u shud buy the other 8 Mile CD. But there are no bad songs on this CD - each track would get 10/10 no doubt. Cop this CD, u won't regret it...

5.0 out of 5 stars The best collection of classic rap tracks ever, September 17, 2003
This review is from: More Music From 8 Mile (Audio CD)
Wow. As if the "inspired" soundtrack (which was still great, mind you) wasn't enough, Shady Records has decided to bless us with another great soundtrack...the film's REAL soundtrack, featuring songs that actually WERE in the movie. And wow, they chose the songs well. Without a doubt, "More Music From 8 Mile" is a must-own for those who aren't familiar with what is probably the greatest era of rap - the early- to mid-1990s' gangsta scene. Specifically, if you want to hear some classic material by Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., Mobb Deep, and Wu Tang Clan among others, you must own this CD.

The CD opens with the infamous Mobb Deep kicking "Shook Ones, Part II", one of the most sonically pleasing rap tracks ever. The eerie piano riffs and chuncky bass of this song were a sensation in 1995, and even today, this song is still ill as ever. Next up is Notorious B.I.G.'s immortal "Juicy", who uses his beautiful lyricism to diss all who said that he'd never succeed in life, with style over a sweet Mtume sample. Biggie's verses are just as fantastic on "Get Money" with his Jr. Mafia homies, another track worth treasuring. You also get to hear Outkast at their earliest and finest on "Player's Ball", plus Tupac and MC Breed hitting hard with "Gotta Get Mine". And how could one forget the hard-as-nails, acid rain bass and brutal lyrics of Mobb Deep's other inclusion on this soundtrack, "Survival of the Fittest"?

There's also a lot of material from the Wu Tang Clan and its members on this album. The best inclusion is the Clan's "C.R.E.A.M.", which, with its oriental-sounding piano riffs and vivid lyricism by Clan members Raekwon and Inspectah Deck, is perhaps one of the most beautiful rap songs ever to grace the ears of hip-hop fans worldwide. Method Man and Ol' Dirty B@stard get their equally respectable turns to shine on "Bring Da Pain" and "Shimmy Shimmy Ya", respectively.

However, my problem came when I realized that, as comprehensive as this soundtrack is, it does not include ALL of the songs heard in the movie. A lot of other great mid-90s' rap tracks were heard in the film, and sadly, many of them weren't included on this disc (see http://imdb.com/title/tt0298203/soundtrack for the complete soundtrack list from this film). Why on Earth didn't they include "Insane in the Brain" by Cypress Hill, "Who Shot Ya" by Notorious B.I.G., "Temptations" by Tupac, and "Gang Stories" by the South Central Cartel, all of which were heard in the movie? At only 12 tracks long, the thought occurred to me that they could have (and should have) released a double-disc album instead.

Nonetheless, it's hard to complain when you're given so much great material as it is. "More Music from 8 Mile" is what it is - a hand-picked compilation of rap's finest stars ever and the best work from their catalogs. Even if you have heard some of the songs on this album, or own albums by the rappers whose work is on it, you should still buy it anyway, just to remind yourself again of how great rap used to be in the mid-90s'. Sadly, with the 21st century domination of Cash-Money and Murda, Inc. over the rap game, with all of their fake no-talent "artists", rap has gone downhill, and probably won't ever be this good again. If you ever hear somebody playing "Hot in Here" again, just make 'em "shook" by putting on "Shook Ones, Part II" and pumping up the bass. There ain't no such thang as halfway crooks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Compilation, June 27, 2003
This review is from: More Music From 8 Mile (Audio CD)
When I first saw this CD, I thought Eminem made some more songs but when I got the CD, he didn't appear on the album once! Rather than putting on rappers on a soundtrack, this CD consists of all the music that was played throughout the movie of '8 Mile'. I love this CD, it has brought back all the old beats that the world once saw and this is full of great songs. I remember hearing these songs ages ago when I was a kid and it's good to hear them again and finally find out who sings the songs. My favorites are:
Mobb Deep- Shook Ones, part 2
Biggie- Juicy
Naughty by Nature- Feel Me Flow
Method Man and Mary J. Blige- All I Need
Pharcyde- Runnin
Mobb Deep- Survival of the Fittest
I'm not saying all the rest of the songs are below average, their still good but I enjoy these songs the most (even though I hate Mobb Deep). The only weakness on here is probably Junior M.A.F.I.A- Get Money coz I hate Junior M.A.F.I.A. If you liked rap back in the ol' days, get this.

For those people who say "Oh,this aint new music" and all that...It's not sposed to be.It's music FROM the film...the actual definition of what a soundtrack is supposed to be!Anyways enuff hating...it's already been sed but yea this soundtrack is heavy. If you like me you probably already own most of the songs on various cds but this is great if you just want something to listen to containing some old greats from various artists.Just like a reminisce mix tape type thing.Yea totally heavy cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Real soundtrack, December 4, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: More Music From 8 Mile (Audio CD)
This is the real soundtrack of 8 mile not that other one. The first CD was alright but this CD is off the hook. This is the music I grew up on. This is why in 8 Mile I was like I gotta get this soundtrack. Eminem you couldn't be smarter. This thing is gonna sell so many albums just for the fact that it's every big song that was hot in 94 or 95 minus 2 pac. GET IT

4.0 out of 5 stars here we go...., January 20, 2003

This review is from: More Music From 8 Mile (Audio CD)
Firstly, as said if you are a hip-hop fan you SHOULD have these cd's already! They are all essentials for your collection. Secondly, if you are looking for new em this aint the one, but, dont turn off there!! I think that many people are missing the point of this SOUNDTRACK (thats right people this is a soundtrack), it is meant to showcase the music from the movie which it does quite well with classic tracks from classic artists from the rap generation before eminem.
People are forgetting that the original '8 mile' soundtrack does not appear that influentialy throughout the movie (with the exception of lose yourself & 8 mile)but for those that think that eminem IS rap... prepare for an education. Get this disc and learn about what it used to be like and then have some fun along the way!!
Highlight tracks would be 'shook ones', 'juicy', 'all i need' and 'c.r.e.a.m'

5.0 out of 5 stars Some great 90's rap, May 16, 2006
This review is from: More Music From 8 Mile (Audio CD)
In the early to mid 90's while I was still in the single digits I was heavy into rap & r&b and this album is a great throwback to the music scene I was into. Sporting some great rap anthums by the likes of BIG, Tupac & Naughty by Nature, this 'more music from' album really delivers the goods. The music featured here are all tracks that here hot back in the day, the time period this film hails from. This is the best of the 90'd rap scene including opening and closing tracks by Mobb Deep and some classic tracks by Method Man (the greatest rapper alive) and the rest of Wu Tang including ODB. My inly regret is that there aren't more tracks...and as was stated by other reveiwers, there are about 6 key tracks played in the film that are not here...but then again, licensing is so crazy that getting the rights to use certain tracks can be downright impossible at times. Even though, this is still one classic album and a must own for any fan of the hip-hop genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hip Hop Greatest Hits or 8mile Soundtrack?, January 4, 2006

This review is from: More Music From 8 Mile (Audio CD)
This CD contains all the classic hip hop songs.. To put it bluntly, its IMPOSSIBLE to be disappointed with this CD. They got Shook Ones pt.II (in my opinion, the greatest dark rap song ever) and Survival of the Fittest from the Mobb. Juicy From Biggie,C.R.E.A.M from the Wu, Runnin from Pharcyde, and many others. EVERY track on this CD is 10+ in my book. All they needed on this CD was Onyx - Last Dayz and it would have been complete, but I'm not complainin, its still amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, November 15, 2005
This review is from: More Music From 8 Mile (Audio CD)
This is the real soundtrack to 8 Mile. The first one they released has good songs, dont get me wrong, but with the exception of "Lose Yourself" and a little remix of "8 Mile Road" theyre not from the movie. This should have been released as the soundtrack. But anyways this album is sick. I would like those songs from the battles but its all good. From Biggie to Pac to Meth to Ol Dirty to Outkast. And let's not forget the unforgettable opening track, "Shook Ones Pt. II." Man this cd is great. I wish I was older in 1995.
