Good book, February 24, 2001
This review is from: No More Mr. Nice Guy (Sweet Valley Jr. High No. 26) (Paperback)
In this book, Brian decides that he doesn't like being "too nice," as Kristin said. He starts wearing his brothers clothes, gets his hair cut, and when he explains to his band mates: Blue, Salvador, and Damon about his problem, they write a song about it. Kristin hangs out with Lacey's cousin Trent while Brian goes through his "No More Mr. Nice Guy" thing. Salvador and Blue also like Elizabeth in this book, and Elizabeth tells Salvador she loves him (as a friend), but she likes Blue more than that. The reason I really liked this book is because I like Blue and Elizabeth, but the Brian and Kristin thing was okay.

Enough Is Enough, November 16, 2004
This review is from: No More Mr. Nice Guy (Sweet Valley Jr. High No. 26) (Paperback)
Brian is tired of being ignored, and taken for granted. He's ready to break away from his "pushover" image, and little by little, he's becoming more confident, strong, and...hard to be around.
The book doesn't take enough time to make you feel like Brian's actually been taken for granted, I think. It pretty much gets straight to the part where Brian is sick of being pushed around. I also think Brian overreacted just a tad, but the book was still good! The lyrics to the songs Big Noise (Made up of Brian, Blue, Damon, and Salvador.) played were kind of cheesy, but Francine Pascal is an author, not a songwriter. This book was what got me back into Sweet Valley Junior High, and made me realize what I'd been missing.
If you like The Babysitters' Club, Luna Bay, or the Mary-Kate and Ashley series, then I'm sure you'll enjoy Sweet Valley Junior High.

a good SVJH book, July 20, 2001
This review is from: No More Mr. Nice Guy (Sweet Valley Jr. High No. 26) (Paperback)
In "No More Mr. Nice Guy" Brian gets tired of being stepped on all the time by his friends and family. They always expect him to give in and take it because he's always so nice. He decides it's time for a change, especially after his girlfriend Kristin puts her best friend Lacey over him. So he and his band write a song called "Too Nice", about a guy getting really sick of being a human doormat and how it's time for change. Kristin hears it without Brian knowing, and she's furious because she thinks it's their break-up song, but things get much better in the end. While all this is going on Salvador is acting really strange around Elizabeth, always grilling her about hanging out with Blue, and Sal is wondering if maybe he doesn't like her all over again. The author (Jamie Suzanne, NOT Francine Pascal) did a great job of writing about very real situations, and with very believable characters.
