Great Follow-Up!,

This is a wonderful book, every bit as great as the first! The techniques are easy to follow, but are also enjoyable for more advanced quilters. It is an excellent way to use up scraps and More Nickel Quilts has more of a variety of color themes- brights, 30's, and more. It also has the math for each quilt in several sizes, so you can make a wall quilt or a queen size, which is nice. All the quilts are beautiful, it was hard to choose which one to start with! I'm making "Butterfly Waltz" right now and it is gorgeous; I can't wait to make the rest. You don't have to start with the first book, although it is a must have too!

I purchased the original Nickel Quilts book and loved it! And so you can imagine my delight when I received "More Nickel Quilts" in the mail. The concept of Nickel quilts is quite unique- all blocks therein are composed of 5 inch squares. This worked great in the first book, which had quite a few really awesome patterns, but I think in the second book, this concept is stretched a little thin. With the exception of shoe fly, most of the blocks were just repetitive and eye-numbing. Patterns which are easy to see shrunk down on the page don't necessarily make great quilts for bedspreads. Overall, I found this book disappointing. If you have a chance, pick up Nickel Quilts. This was an awesome book. I think with "More Nickel Quilts"....The author just ran out of ideas. I'd recommend browsing this book before buying, to make sure you like the blocks.

What I like better about this book is the use of jewel tones, in comparison to the earthier colors of the first volume. Also, the patterns stick more to using only 5" squares and not cutting other size patches of fabric, which was a concern I had with "Nicket Quilts." Excellent for charm collectors.

I love this book! I have never really been a scrap quilter but then I saw Nickle Quilts and this book and I have to say that I will now be making any scrap quilts! I have already made one and am going to be starting a second very soon.

Fell in love with Nickel Quilts!,

I am fairly new to quilting and just came upon the Nickel Quilts books and I simply adore them! Everything is based on 5-inch squares, which is really simple and is nice for a beginning quilter like me because I can buy layer cakes or charm packs and be ready to go! The techniques are easy and fun and the results are beautiful. I started with her newest book, Amazing Nickel Quilts, and am now making my way backward. I love the way she uses a variety of fabrics so it is easier to visualize what quilts might look like with different colors. I am looking forward to quilting my way through all of the Nickel Quilt books!

Great Quilting Book,
This review is from: More Nickel Quilts: 20 New Designs from 5-Inch Squares (Paperback)
This is a wonderful book and what a great way to use scraps. Who doesn't have pieces that they couldn't cut into 5" squares and coordinate into a scrappy quilt. I recommend it for anyone that loves scrappy quilts.

Together with its predecessor this book would have to be one of the best on patchworking 5 inch squares that I have come across. I searched for literally ages to find the right book and this and its sister book were the two I finally purchased. Five stars to the authors.
