Editorial Reviews

From the Inside Flap

Here's a gift from Santa for anyone who is a child at heart at Christmas! Ed Butchart is Santa Claus--and in his first book, The Red Suit Diaries, he made fans out of readers. His knack for celebrating Christmas all year and in all ways continues to attract readers in his new book, More Pages from the Red Suit Diaries. Anyone who loves Christmas will relish reading Butchart's stories about hearing the heartfelt wishes of children. And there's much more as Santa tells all: introductions to the real-life "elves" in Santa's world, stories of entire families' lives changed by Santa's presence, and the blessings of the valuable work he does in his workshop, refurbishing wheelchairs for thousands of disabled children and adults in need. This Santa is so much more than a jolly man in a funny suit. He's a living, breathing testament to the "faith, hope, and love" for which Christians should be known. Readers of this book will keep the giving spirit of Christmas--and of faith--in their hearts all year long.

This review is from: More Pages from the Red Suit Diaries: A Real-Life Santa Shares Hopes, Dreams, and Childlike Faith (Hardcover)
I think we all have our own thoughts on the mall Santas. Mine was one of a guy who happened to look like Santa so he ended up with the job for a season. I have no idea if we've ever seen the same Santa twice. It's always been a moment to cherish and then it's over. We've never created a relationship with the mall Santas we've shared our lists with.

Reading More Pages from the Red Suit Diaries was a breath of fresh air and it gave me an entirely new view on who Santa is; historical and contemporary. Ed Butchart shares in his 2nd book more stories of those he met and created relationships as Santa. It cracks me up that people will approach Ed and act as if they're the first one whose ever thought he looks like Santa.

I never realized that Santas, many of them, take this job literally and seriously! What a ministry they can have. The lives they have the ability to touch is profound. They can bring hope and joy to the lives of the kids that they meet. There are colleges where men can get their degrees in being a Santa. How incredible is that? Being Santa is serious business.

On top of being Santa, and touching the lives of many, Ed and his wife Annie (who has passed away) began a non-profit organization called FODAC (Friends of Disabled Adults and Children). They give away refurbished wheelchairs to disabled people. It's an amazing story how this ministry came about.

Reading this story, you will gain insight into the daily life of a Santa. I learned more about Santa than I ever thought there was to know. The personal stories Ed shares will tug at your heartstrings and I doubt anyone will be able to look at Santa in the same light again.

5.0 out of 5 stars More Pages From the Red Suit Diaries, October 30, 2010
MORE PAGES FROM THE RED SUIT DIARIES follows a real-life Santa as he shares hopes, dreams and child-like faith. Ed Butchart works as well as other personals, but even as, say a railroad engineer, he is always identified as Santa.

As Santa he has made impacts on many children's and adults from all different walks of life, and even helped out when tragedy touched the families. Mr. Butchart shares story after story about how he has reached others, and how many people are convinced that he truly is Santa.

I usually avoid memoirs, but I did enjoy reading Mr. Butchart's collection. He has a sense of humor that is evident in the pages of the book and it is touching how he does seem to care for the children and adults he meets, and even prays for them.

If you are looking for the "real Santa" and want to know stories from his experience, then look up MORE PAGES FROM THE RED SUIT DIARIES. It is available at www.amazon.com and other booksellers.

I haven't got around to reading this one yet with everything to do during Christmas, but have started reading the first book and it has really blessed me. I love reading about people who help others and these stories have really uplifted me. I am trying to get the first one read so I can start on this one. I would surely recommend this book to everyone. You will be more uplifted in your spirits after reading it. It's a great book to share with your family and friends.
