A complete, step-by-step manual on building and operating a time-tested, proven and dependable electrical system that's capable of running a home and shop or home-business. Not dependent on wind or available sunshine, this system uses a small diesel generator, storage batteries and a state-of-the-art inverter to supply clean, stable 110/220-volt power efficiently, year after year. The system is inexpensive and easy to build from commonly-available components, and the book's resource guide tells where to find everything needed. There's also a chapter on building a sound-proof generator shed, and lots of info on automatic, remote-controlled operation of the system. Presented in easy-to-understand conversational language supported by lots of drawings and diagrams. "More Power To You!" has received excellent reviews in several"homesteading" magazines.

Editorial Reviews

Review

More Power to You! Is about a home power-system based on the efficient China diesel generator. We're talking about a system that produces lots of power 24 hours a day without having to run the generator full time.

The book gives a step-by-step explanation of the system components and ho\w they interrelate, shows you how to taylor the system to your power needs and tells you how to constrict a sound-proof generator shed and an underground muffler system.

It explains how to install each component of your electrical system for optimum performance and ease of maintenance. The electrical section covers of connecting the generator to your house and/or shop, as well as complete details on installing a multi-station remote control.

Also covered are diagrams and explanations for several power- management circuits. These include a special circuit to isolate your equipment from the destructive low voltages produced by a generator coming up to speed or spooling down to ta stop, a circuit which automatically makes sure that your generator will never have to start under any kind of a load, and others.

It includes a chapter on maintenance, complete with trouble- shooting guide; and the Resource Guide tells you where to find every component necessary to build the system. This is a good book, it's easy to read, full of sound information. You don't have to be an electrical engineer to understand it. -- Dave Duffy, Publisher Backwoods Home Magazine

From the Publisher

Thomsen wrote this book after being asked to by many folks who visited his wilderness home in North Central Oregon. With no utilities nearby, the Thomsens enjoyed a normal home with all the electric appliances, gadgets, stereo and TV of city homes, plus an office with two computers, printers and a photocopy machine and a large woodworking shop fully-equipped with electric power tools and an air-compressor. Their small, efficient generator, remotely operated from the kitchen, needed to run only a few hours a day to supply 'round-the-clock power to the home and shop. This manual tells all the success secrets of the final and very dependable evolution of this system.

For a nominal initial investment, you can have your own dependable, efficient power system. You can have the convenience of full-time 110-volt power for less money per month than is charged my many utilities. The technology is simple and available anywhere!

If you need dependable, stable 110/220-volt power for home and/or shop and don't have enough year 'round sunshine for a viable solar system, this is the system for you!

If you operate a shop or home business that needs more power than is available from an affordable solar or hydro system, this is the system for you!

In easy-to-understand conversational language, More Power To You! is intentionally as non-technical as possible, addressing the need for clear, concise, step-by-step instructions to a specific end result: an owner-built, owner-operated power system which will deliver all it promises, without the owner needing to be an electrical engineer. This system has been proven with years of trouble-free service for far less money than public power would have cost.

This review is from: More Power to You! (Paperback)
This is a book that someone collected scant information with limited knowledge. It does nothing more than provide an over view with limited actual hands on use. If you were without any knowledge of power use and consumption than you MAY find some limited use. Do not waste your money as I did. To bad it was not sold by Wal-Mart so I could return it as garbage.
