4.0 out of 5 stars Finally -- American Radio Version of Rock Me Amadeus - Falco
On every 80's collection I own (and I do have a lot) Rock Me Amadeus by Falco is featured only as the German Version. This is the only collection I found with the American radio edit with the dates detailing Mozart's life. So for that reason alone, it may be worth it to get it. Otherwise is seems the same as every other 80's collection out there.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bought for a specific song
I bought this mainly for the Solieri Version of Rock Me Amadeus. It is the version but shorter, over a minute, than the original. I wish I could find where to download/buy the exact version that came on Falco 3 released in the US back in 1985. Anyway, with 18 songs on this CD, if you like 9 or more of the songs ... it's worth buying. If you only like a couple of the...

4.0 out of 5 stars Rock Me Amadeus, March 18, 2007

This is a nice compilation of the 80's, it's only essential for collectors like me because it contains 3 rare track versions.

The first one is the 4 munites and 4 seconds edit of "I Know There's Something Going On" which is now only available on Frida's album "Something's Going On" as bonus track.

The second song is Tears For Fears "Shout" that clocks at 4 minutes and 6 seconds which again is only available on the latest DELUXE re-issue of "Songs From The Big Chair".

The third and last song is Falco's rare "Canadian Version" (4 minutes and 8 seconds) which is an edit to the 8 minutes and 21 seconds of "Salieri Version" that was released on the US version CD of "Falco 3" by A&M records in 1985. However, I noticed many of you are trying to locate this song without paying big $$$ for the long deleted Falco 3 CD and you can only find it on 2 CDs, one of them is Falco 'Hit Singles' released by Warner in 1998 again now it's out-of-print (try Amazon Germany for a cheaper second hand) and the other one titled "I love Techno Pop vol.2" which is still in print only in Spain and by the way an awesome compilation of 12inch hits, you can find it and buy it at Blanco Y Negro official website.

Anyway, a must for hardcore fan of the 80's.

5.0 out of 5 stars The 80's is our generation and our music!, December 20, 2004
This review is from: More Pure 80's (Audio CD)
For those who lived through the Reagan years, we know how great life was. Big hair, big eyeshadow, Jordache Jeans and neon sweaters for the girls, and checkered Vans sneakers, painter caps, and Op T-shirts for the guys. Oh how we loved those days, and we miss them terribly. Fortunately the music and good times live on. Sure maybe Toni Basil's 'Micky' is missing, but look at these songs!

'Would I lie to You' was a great song from the Eurrhythmics and nothing can get a party hopping quicker than Annie Lennox belting out angst.

And who could forget 'Walking on Sunshine' by Katrina and the Waves? That is the theme song to over a hundred 80's movies!

In the mood for love? Give 'Look of Love' a spin and let ABC bring you closer to your GAL.

Wanna get crazy? 'Rock me Amadeous' is one of the top ten things that came out of the 80's! It's right behind the fall of the Berlin Wall!

And hey, you remember that special girl you had in the 80's? Yeah you know the one. The first girl that ever let you get to third base? You remember how cute she was with that special strawberry sparkle lipstick? Well you haven't seen her in close to 20 years and she's probably a fat housewife right now with an unresponsive husband. But just give 'Rio' a spin and in your mind she'll be back in your arms while you're desperaetly trying to unhook her bra in the back of your dad's 1977 Dodge Aspen.

Aw those were the days, that was the music, and life just hasn't been the same since.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the first PURE 80's., March 1, 2006

If you like 80's, this is the c.d. for you. I recommend buying the first pure 80's c.d. along with this one. I thought the first c.d. was better and it contained more tracks.

On this c.d. I loved songs #8 "I Know There's Something Going On" & #9 "Love is a Battlefield". It took me forever to find those two songs. I loved the other songs as well, I was just stoked to find those two.

The best part of buying this compilation is you get all these great songs that would cost you tons to buy seperately. Plus, if you bought them seperately, you end up listening to songs you don't like. With this c.d., you can listen to hit after hit with no interuptions.

For the price, I recommend buying the two c.d.s together so you'll get the free shipping. You might need to buy one more cheap priced item to get the free shipping.

Remember the 1980's, when all we had to worry about was nuclear war instead of rampant terrorism? Well, for those like me who grew up during that decade, this CD is an overflow of nostalgia. It contains some of the best songs of the 80's.

Songs like WALK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN (the Bangles), WALKING ON SUNSHINE (Katrina and the Waves), HEAVEN IS A PLACE ON EARTH (Belinda Carlisle) and I KNOW THERE'S SOMETHING GOING ON (Frida) are almost pure nostalgia straight-from-the-bottle.

For me, the 2 best songs are MANEATER (Hall & Oates) and HANDS TO HEAVEN (Breathe). MANEATER is the best song Hall & Oates ever wrote, and it also describes quite a few sadistic women I've met in my life. HANDS TO HEAVEN takes me back to the first time I heard it. It was in boot camp & was the first time they allowed us to listen to the radio. For a few brief moments I was able to in my mind get away from the United States Navy!

I've never cared for Huey Lewis & The News, but POWER OF LOVE is their best song & the song they're most known for. I like Pat Benatar, but never thought LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD was one of her best songs. I would have much preferred SHADOWS OF THE NIGHT, but that's just my opinion.

The biggest gaffe on the album in my mind is Falco's ROCK ME AMADEUS. I never cared for it, even though I'm a big fan of classical music (including Mozart!). Never seemed there was much substance to it, and it's little wonder that Falco was basically a 1-hit wonder.

All-in-all, however, the majority of the songs on this album fit nicely for everyone who went to High School during the 80s. If you graduated from HS in 1980-something, give this CD a try!

A good mix of great 80's songs. Since most bands from the 80's were one hit wonders (or really close to that), you get the music you love without all the extra "filler" songs you don't want.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Red Cube., August 24, 2011

There are three (actally there are more) albums in this series that I have receintly purchased. The Red Cube, The Blue Cube and the Green Cube. The blue Cube is very nearly a perfect album for having the tracks that I like. Obviously a personal observation! The Red Cube is nearly as good. Check out the track list and make up your own mind. Overall the digital transfer is excellent. Honestly if you like the music of the eighties and you don't have this stuff alreaady, I guarentee you that you can't go wrong!

Brings back fond memories of my school days when I would kick back after class and turn on the stereo. This DVD contains a great selection of representive songs from the "Decade of Decadence". My favorites are "Safety Dance", "Man Eater", "Jeopardy", and "Would I Lie to You" just to mention a few. I will order more of the other songs soon!
