4.0 out of 5 stars Great idea for quilting as you go, March 18, 2008

I like the concept of quilting as you go, or should I say reversible quilting. There is lots of hand sewing in order to complete the projects. The instructions are easy to follow, however, you will have to tab certain pages as each project refers you back to a different section in the book. I have had fun making several table runners from this book. The colors and photos are beautiful. Great book to have in your personal library.

I love to make quilts but trying to quilt a full size or larger quilt on a home sewing machine can sometimes be a real chore. Reversible Quilts gives clear-cut instructions on how to quilt as you go and still have stunning quilts. It's a worthwhile addition to my quilting library.

5.0 out of 5 stars More Reversible Quilts, October 24, 2008

This book is everything I expected. I had been looking for it for a few months when I decided to check for it on Amazon. I have Sharon's first book "Reversible Quilts Two at a Time" and enjoy it also. A friend turned me on to this method and now I make many of my quilts with this method. The directions are clear and the pictures provide good detail. I have taken the methods taught in this book and used it with several patterns that I have created on my own. The Table runner pattern in this book is a fast and easy gift and being reversible it is really 2 gifts in one. Takes about 6 hrs to make from start to finish. "Not Enough Cats" is a pattern in this book that I am planning on doing next. I actually saw it made up on a tour at Martingale Press and it is exquisite. I know I will enjoy this book for many years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reversible Quilts, and More Reversible Quilts, September 28, 2007
This review is from: More Reversible Quilts (Paperback)
These books are great. I had seen the author on one program of Simply Quilts on HGTV, and I had attended a class about these quilts. Icouldn't resist when I saw them. I have already used some of the patterns.

Thanks so much

4.0 out of 5 stars Another step to enjoy quilting, November 25, 2011

More Reversible Quilts, by Sharon Pederson, is a good followup of the original book Reversible Quilts. This book takes you a step further into the technique to show how just about any quilt can be made block by block without the hassle of the necessary gymnastics of trying to quilt on a home machine. The potential projects are endless, and will take you as far as your creativity will go. However, I do recommend the DVD Reversible Quilts to see first hand how it works, this makes it easier to visualize the concept and do your projects. The writing style is down to earth, just like she talks. If you enjoy quilting, you will love this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent guide to creating reversible quilts, August 1, 2009
This review is from: More Reversible Quilts (Paperback)
As I recounted in my review of "Reversible Quilts - Two at as Time" by the same author, I am not a quilter, but the love of my life is. Not only is a she a lifelong quilter, but she teaches quilting as part of her work. She got these books to prepare her lesson plans for teaching a group of beginners. I picked the books up and found them so well done that I read through them.

Sharon Pederson is a very skillful writer and teacher. I am not sure if Pederson did the page design, but whoever did deserves a round of applause. The book is profusely and well illustrated with both photographs and line drawings.

Pederson begins this book (and its predecessor) with basics of building blocks, borders, sashings and bindings. Interestingly, this section, which takes up about a third of the book, is slightly shorter than it was in the first volume.

The balance of the book contains very clear instructions for creating 11 projects, all of which are beautiful. As noted, I am not a quilter, but I do appreciate them. And this book not only provides me with greater understanding of all the talent, artistry, skill and time it takes to create a quilt.

Pederson is a gifted teacher.

Jerry

4.0 out of 5 stars Reversible Quilts - Beautiful but not for beginners except small projects, March 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: More Reversible Quilts (Paperback)
I bought a couple of these books because of the quilt as you go aspect. Though I am an intermediate sewer and an advanced beginner quilter (seven auctioned full-size quilts, now with free motion quilting), I find the thought of quilting both sides of the quilt daunting. I plan to start with the smaller table runner projects to see how I do before attempting a larger piece. I would say doing a large quilt this way is not for a beginner. As another reviewer noted, some amount of hand sewing. This is the best book explaining these techniques.
