Review
Having authored more than a dozen Llewellyn Publications titles, Ted Andrews is an experienced metaphysical writer. His work has introduced many people to a variety of metaphysical subjects. More Simplified Magic: Pathworking and the Tree of Life is from Andrew's new publisher, Dragonhawk Publishing, and is a revised edition of his previously released Imagick: Qabalistic Pathworking for Imaginative Magicians. It has been reworked as a follow-up to the writer's successful Simplified Magic from Llewellyn. The book delivers as promised. It is a simplified, but solid, introduction to the principal symbol of Hermetic Qabalism, the Tree of Life, and to a technique of creative visualization called Pathworking, which is often used to explore the tree. Andrews provides an abundance of symbolic correspondences to the Paths and Sephiroth of the Tree of Life, a series of exercises to get the beginner started, and complete instructions for conducting one's own Pathworkings (The basis of his Pathworking technique is the method developed by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, but Andrews has made his own adaptations). This book could be an important guide for many aspiring Qabalists. It would make a good addition to the resource libraries of more experienced Hermeticists as well. I do have a couple of quibbles. One for the publisher: The book is so jam-packed with clip art that it has a cheesy appearance that it does not deserve. One for the author: The "Labyrinth of Charms" piece, which begins the book, is not sufficiently fascinating to expect readers to care enough to follow it from book to book. Otherwise, excellent work. -- From Independent Publisher
