This is a great book for beginners and experienced alike but not for those seeking a quick fix. It is serious magickal work that will transform you and your life. I'll explain how to use it for the beginners, but first state what I didn't like. The title should be something like "Pathworking: True Magick for the Serious Seeker". Also, the warnings Ted gives about Daath are absolutely true, so why didn't he put this chapter at the end of the book, and have a simpler initiation meditation at the beginning? In my personal experience (15 years studying the Kabbalah), the Akashic records are stored at Hod, not Daath, but that's just nitpicking. So why 5 stars? The charts and correspondences in this book alone make it well worth the money. This book is what magick is truly all about. If you are too lazy to read the whole book, do all the italicised meditations, study the Part 1 descriptions of each temple and read Chapter 5, describing each pathway as you do them. You really should do the Kabbalistic Cross and Lesser Banishing Pentagram Rituals (Chapter 10) before the pathworking for your own protection. They are easily learned. Chapter 8 "Pathworking Techniques" is also important. Ted teaches pathworking in a very logical manner. The easiest pathworking involves using colours and symbols and archangels associated with each sphere/path. When you become proficient in that, you can add tarot archetype explorations to your working. (An excellent primer for this and if you still find this book too hard is "Inner Landscapes" by Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki, I also recommend Ted's "Animal Speak"). A further level is to use myths and stories which correspond to each path. You also really should keep a journal as Ted says to ground your experiences; it involves discipline to do it but it will hugely help your progress. I've been working with the book since January and (due to my experience) have worked from the top of the Tree down rather than bottom to top. So I've been trying to bring those energies through into my material life. I've had some profound realisations and also significant changes occurring outside of me. If you put the effort in, it really works!

4.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive and Rewarding!, December 23, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: More Simplified Magic: Pathworking with the Tree of Life (Pathworking on the Tree of Life Series) (Paperback)
This long-awaited sequel to Andrews' popular SIMPLIFIED MAGIC is similar in easy-to-understand, easy-to-follow language and layout; the difference is in depth and intensity. His years of work and writing on the Qabala and its pathways have given Andrews a clear, keen knowledge of the subject. With numerous illustrations and exercises, this is an excellent research manual and workbook for serious students of Qabalistic philosophy. Those new to the study will find an esoteric system of wisdom work made invitingly accessible; those already learned in it will find it comprehensive and rewarding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Sequel to Simplified Magic, March 22, 2000
This review is from: More Simplified Magic: Pathworking with the Tree of Life (Pathworking on the Tree of Life Series) (Paperback)
Ted Andrews further develops the ideas and practices of his book "Simplified Magic". In this book he gives the details and correspondences that lead to a deeper understanding of qabala, the Tree of Life and of course, oneself. Ted's "Imagick" approach to practical qabala is very straight forward and easy to follow. The advanced meditations and pathworkings contained in this book really helped to deepen my qabalistic meditations and my understanding of them. Many thanks to Mr. Andrews for getting me started on the path.

Even though I have been studying the occult for years as well as being raised around it, I never studied much of the kaballah. This book is great for learning the backbone of the study and the Tree of Life, yet for those of us who have been studying in general, it doesn't make us feel as if we have to start from the beginning again. It was a great starter to more in depth books such as Dion Fortune's Mystical Qabalah and others. It isn't a boring read either (though some parts go slow as it is more in depth). I took it with me while travelling for work in between conferences and such. Great book and deefinitely recommend it whether you are a beginner or someone advanced wanting to study a different aspect of the occult such as the Three of Life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Pathworking Book!, February 14, 2006

This text was recommended to me by my Kabbalah teacher. I got the chance to browse through it and fell in love immediately. I am not one for fluff, I wanted a concrete informative-no BS book on pathworking. Andrews does just that. He describes all the temples of the 10 sephirot and the 22 paths, give lists of corresponding magical images, etc. I found this extremely useful. He also notes the limits of doing Kabbalah work solo, and provides many exercises to acquaint the solo practioner safely into the astral world. Also included are techniques to make pathworking come alive for the practioner, a great quick reference list, and a discussion of magic in general which I find enlightening.

I wouldn't recommend this to someone who is just starting out with magic. For that, I would point them to Scott Cunningham or Dion Fortune for a good overview of magic theory. Dion Fortune is excellent at discussing the magus and his psychology in ritual work (see Mystical Kabbalah).

For someone who is new to Kabbalah, it is a good idea to just work with the 10 sephiroh first. New Living Kabbalah by Will Parfitt was my first book in my training as a Kabbalist.

If you are a seasoned practioner of the Tree, get this book! Not as heavy as Regardie by just as insightful. I have seen information and insights in this book I've never seen elsewhere.

Happy Reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book. This is a master's book., May 7, 2005
This review is from: More Simplified Magic: Pathworking with the Tree of Life (Pathworking on the Tree of Life Series) (Paperback)
This book is not intended for beginners or dabblers. Most people buy on a whim which is great but not in this case. This book is a sequel to an excellent book he published, "Simplified Magic". Anyone who regrets buying the book should have read the first one. This is a powerful book and may be overwhelming for beginners. MOst people think, " Well thats for me", then they buy it and it ends up on the shelf because they dont know how to use it. Read his first book and then buy this one and you will realize why this is an excellent book. Again, the Kaballah is not for thrill seekers or newbies. If you bought it and are overwhlemed, hold on to it, read other beginner books then come back to this one. Ted Andrews is an excellent writer who is very generous with excellent, in depth information for the initiate.

5.0 out of 5 stars extremely informative, April 24, 2008

This review is from: More Simplified Magic: Pathworking with the Tree of Life (Pathworking on the Tree of Life Series) (Paperback)
This book is very interstingly written. The information presented is helpful in this time as history unfolds and we need skillful means to stay focused and peaceful within. He gives a way to find how we can move deeply into Source, Spirit, God, through the Tree of Life. I take one aspect of the Tree at a time and become aware of beliefs, images, etc. As my life unfolds something magikal happens where I am lifted up to more of who I am from a place of freedom that goes beyond my imagination. With this book I can truly say I can face the distorted beliefs and be more of the person I long to be and feel peace as I do the work. I just stay open to all possiblities.

If you are confused at how to intergrate the Kabbalah into a spiritual practice, this the book for you. I have found the Kabbalah somewhat hard to understand but Ted gives you lots of guided meditations and instructions to actually apply the Kabbalah to your spiritual life. I highly recommend this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not really qabala book, January 12, 2011
This review is from: More Simplified Magic: Pathworking with the Tree of Life (Pathworking on the Tree of Life Series) (Paperback)
This is one of my favorite authors, but my opinion for this book is mixed. Why? Because if you want to practice qabala and the ten levels of the tree of life the first part named " The Mystical Qabala " will give you the ancient tools. the original ancient tools!!! I'm not sure, most authors of qabala add new techniques from East teaching, Golden Dawn Teaching and so on. Yes this is a practice for original teaching from ancient times- see Kahuna magic, Zen for example. Again the first part is great, but Ted Andrews mixed the rest of this book with some exercises you can't find anywhere in qabala system and add the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram-originally developed by the magickal group Goden Dawn. The banishing techniques from ancient times are qabalistic cross and evocation of 4 great arcangels, but an ancient banishing ritual is published in Sepher Yetzirah. Pathworking maybe comes to us with Merkaba teachings and developed by Golden Dawn. If you want real pathworking take " Modern Magcik " by Donald Michael Kraig.
