Before Tiny Tim and HAL-9000,

These two albums aren't among Mitch's best, in my opinion, but they have enough good songs on them to make the CD worthwhile. Most of the songs are a little too slow for my taste, and many never stuck in my memory even after hearing them multiple times in the early '60s, but if you like Mitch you'll have to eventually get this CD, too. Some comments on specific songs: "Be My Little Baby Bumblebee" ends with a cute buzzing effect that I'd forgotten about, "Carolina In The Morning" is a pleasant Al Jolson tune (the same guy who wrote "California" and other songs that Mitch did on other albums), "Shine On Harvest Moon" is possibly the catchiest and most memorable of the lot (Jose' Jimenez of "The Right Stuff" book fame once recorded a comedy version of this with an imitation Spanish accent), "I'll Be With You In Apple Blossom Time" is a gentle tune from World War II whose original version is still available on CD elsewhere, this pre-Tiny Tim version of "Tiptoe Through The Tulips With Me" and the pre-HAL-9000 version of "A Bicycle Built For Two" are both old standards that every child (and computer) should learn, "Beer Barrel Polka" is required learning material for beer drinkers, and the politically incorrect "When You Were Sweet Sixteen / Silver Threads Among The Gold" is an interesting nostalgic mixture with a song about youth and a song about old age that appears on Mitch's 16 most requested songs album. I'm still hoping for Mitch's "TV" and "Sentimental" albums to be released on CD, though, which I thought were among his best.

the magical sounds of Mitch Miller,

Mitch Miller and his chorus were able to weave their own special brand of magic, a magic so potent that these record albums sold like crazy and many people listened to them over and over again--including my parents! I first heard these tunes when my parents would play their Mitch Miller records and even as a child I liked the sound. It's upbeat, positive and catchy all at once; and that's great. True, some will argue that these are not Mitch's very best albums; but they remain indispensable for any Mitch Miller fan and they make a good introduction to his artistry nonetheless. The sound quality is also very good. There are medleys including "Sweet Adeline/Let Me Call You Sweetheart;" the chorus doesn't miss a beat and it's very enjoyable to hear. "My Buddy" is another evergreen ballad that gets the royal treatment from Mitch and his chorus; and I really like "Carolina in the Morning;" the medley of "Shine on Harvest Moon/For Me and My Gal;" "I'll Be with You in Apple Blossom Time;" their easy on the ear "Tiptoe through the Tulips with Me" with that whistling effect and "Beer Barrel Polka," another classic. Mitch Miller fans will enjoy this CD a great deal; I listen to it and when I hear these songs it really brings back fond memories of my childhood listening to all this with my parents at a time when life seemed so much simpler. Fans of classic pop vocals will also like this album.

Very happy with all the songs. Those that know the songs can easily sing along as well as persons not familiar with but easily learned. Great for a family or other group participation.

Mitch Miller Sing Along CDs,
This review is from: More Sing Along / Still More Sing Along (Audio CD)
I was delighted with the quality of the recording--especially compared to my over-used LP albums. I was disappointed, though, that the CDs do not include sing-along words, as my LPs do.

This double album has been a godsend for my 79 year old parents. Those in early-middle stages of dementia will be given a gift to sing-along or just sit relaxed enjoying the memories.
Love it.

No one can beat Mitch and the gang for bringing the old songs to life. Heavenly to have the renditions crystal clear on a CD. Take on a trip with any age group...everyone's spirits will be lifted...for young kids it is educational as well as entertaining!

i bought this to add to the other cds i have of mitch. the only thing that needs to be done is to have the complete catalogue of sing along with mitch albums on cd. i have all the sing along albums except 2 or 3 i think and i put them on cd but for mitch miller fans it's time to put them out and sit back and enjoy them. well maybe one day it will happen who knows. the main mitch cd to get is the first one to start off with simply sing along with mitch and the gang. you won't be disapointed.

Like I did the other 1, this is pretty much to consider. It isn't a bad album anyway I still own all of those on LP (both MMMMitch! and MORE SING-ALONG W/ MITCH)
Surely love the vocals 2 this one and also good orchestral work also. |
