5.0 out of 5 stars There is lots to love about this book May 6, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
The projects in this book are so unique, and quirkily charming you may want to make them all. They all have so much personality and will become a favorite soft toy to adults or children alike. With smiles that go on forever, and eyes that sparkle or wink, these friends will work their way into your heart.
Some are sewn and some are crocheted. There is the cutest little set of turtles all completely attired and with appropriate hair named "Sgt. Pepper's Turtles". Other crocheted items include a easy and darling dog and frog rattle, and the "Scream".(you have to see that one)
I loved "Little Red Riding Hood"; she has a red cape, and red gingham dress, and darling little hand sewn felt purse. I am definitely making her for a granddaughter. Another granddaughter will be getting "The Princess and the Pea", a stylized princess with 13 mattresses and a pillow, and a green pea.
Another favorite of mine is the soft sided car and little trailer. It is embellished with buttons and felt flowers, and looks like it just stepped out of the `70s, and very cute!
Robot Bear has a winsome look and will be a favorite for some little boy, as will the giraffe, 2 different elephants, 2 different little dogs, patchwork horse, and the owl friend.
Topsy-Turvy Tabitha is awake and raring to go, with a happy smile, bright pigtails, and flowered dress; but flip her upside down and she is sound asleep with a beautiful, flowered nightgown. There is also a darling little pocket gnome who will be ready to hang around or be tucked into a pocket.
I have not told you about all the different softies, but I really like this book. All patterns are included in the book, and all the instructions are very easy to understand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly creative and sweet creations! July 24, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am so excited to make some of these adorable softies, having exhausted most of the options in the other book I had gotten a year ago. These are so whimsical and fresh--I love the rooster in particular! The patterns and directions are easy to follow. Thanks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovable Oddballs! March 27, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I love felties, stuffies & all sorts of quirky softies. This book is designed to inspire, teach & make converts out of everyone. My kids love it, they've made a couple of the simpler toys to give away to friends. I have the first book, Softies Only a Mother Could Love..and almost impossibly, this second book is even better than the first. There are a few crocheted little guys, too, to the delight of my teenage daughter who fancies herself a amigurumi ninja! Love the Sgt. Pepper's Turtles; with some flax seeds or beans in with the stuffing, they are a perfect set sure to make a ho-hum office cubicle a happier place! These books are really great scrap-basket busters, too. Have a bunch of not-too-small-to-throw-away fabrics? You know, those that are too tiny to make into even a small coin purse, yet you don't want to pitch them cos they cost $18/yard? (I think all sewers probably have a bucketful!) Now they can be used for darling little arms, legs, even a nifty little necktie for Mister Rooster. I guarantee your friends, family & even craft-swap partners will love to get a little picker-upper in their mailbox, too! These are too adorable & not just for mothers, either! :)
