Isn't "More Tales" :( How Disappointing, December 4, 2008
This review is from: More Tales of the Catwings (Paperback)
The one star rating is given for this edition of the book only. The other single book editions are lovely! The Catwings series is an enchanting series of childrens' books, but the title of this particular edition, and complete lack of additional info anywhere on the net is misleading. When I saw the title I thought it meant the author, the amazing Ursula LeGuin, had written more stories in this series. I researched on the internet and only found vague info as to what this title contained.
So I bought it for $15, excited to supposedly have found a rare additional Catwings book. WRONG. It is simply two of the old Catwings stories in one volume- Wonderful Alexander and the Catwings, and Jane on Her Own. And the paper is second- rate quality, rough yellowish mass market paperback stuff. So the illustrations look awful, compared to the original books, which have smooth bright acid-free paper and crisp, brilliant color illustrations that just pop.
There is also a "Tales of the Catwings", which I suppose to be just the first two stories in the series- Catwings, and Catwings Return. I would suggest not buying either of these volumes for most people. The editions that are sold as individual books, or as a box set are better quality and cheaper!
Happy reading.
