4.0 out of 5 stars Complete nonsense, and yet entertaining, August 21, 2011
I'm not usually into reading things that are just plain unbelievably silly, but not only did I read the book from beginning to end, then watch the movie, I even read the rest of the books in the series. I was amazed at how the randomness of the book just flowed together and not once did I ever read it and say, why is that even relevant or why did Adams write this? I just laughed my buns off. I probably won't ever read it again, but if you love things like Austin Powers, although less crude, this is a very humorous adventure and the characters are easy to fall in love with.

4.0 out of 5 stars New Old Stock, December 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This product was sold as "condition: NEW". In fact it should've been labeled at best "New Old Stock" (which I realize is not an option so maybe as "Good Condition" instead). I realize it is a couple decades old, but "new" would not indicate to me that the pages would be yellowed and that the dust cover would have some wear. It looked like it had been pulled on and off a shelf full of books many times. The dust cover didn't have tears or anything like that (although the book was crunched slightly in one corner which I attribute to the trip from the seller to myself (no big deal)). It just definitely had wear on it. On the upside, the price was right so, you know, my son will get a great Christmas present for a little bit of money. Just wish it looked as "new" as advertised, instead of like my copy that I've had for several years.

5.0 out of 5 stars More Than Complete, October 18, 2006

(REAL NAME)
This may be the "More Than Complete" Guide, but it does not contain the fifth book (The Salmon Of Doubt). However, this book was my introduction to Douglas Adams and I have read it at least a dozen times since it was given to me six years ago.

If you think you'd like British science fiction comedy, you'll like this book. If you saw the movie, don't try to compare it to the book - movies are one form of media, and books are another. It's impossible to transfer this type of written humor into a movie.

Give Douglas Adams a try, and you too can be one of the few people who burst out laughing whenever somebody says "42".
