5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book - Made me cry, April 7, 2003
This review is from: More Than a Dream (Return to Red River #3) (Paperback)
This is a fabulous ending to the triology on Thorliff. Although I might have been rooting for another ending (Anji, why'd you marry that other guy!) this one still won me over. The book made me cry, laugh and share it with all my friends! I can't wait to go back to Blessing later, I have completely fallen in love with all the characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent ending!, January 6, 2006

The best part of this story moves along faster in this book than the first 2 in this series, but not so fast that you're left wondering what happened. Thorliff continues to work for Elizabeth's father at the newspaper as Elizabeth goes to medical school, and when tragedy strikes Blessing, Thorliff goes home to help and eventually convinces Elizabeth to come when a doctor is needed desparately.

I noticed a couple of earlier reviews disliked the idea of Elizabeth and Thorliff being a couple, but it wasn't unexpected - the story in Book 1 allows readers to get to know Elizabeth pretty well before she ever lays eyes on Thorliff, so it's obvious she was introduced to us for a reason. I'm sorry things didn't go well with Anji, but at least Thorliff was spared from being in a "love triangle" with both women.

My only complaint about this book is that there isn't a 4th in the series - I would love to see Thorliff start a newspaper while Elizabeth sets up a medical practice in Blessing. (Of course one can imagine their own ending but I hate loose ends in a story)

5.0 out of 5 stars good book and good service, October 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: More Than a Dream (Return to Red River #3) (Paperback)
I received this book from an Amazon user that ended up being a city library. It was in really good shape. I was very happy with this because sometimes something says it is in great or good shape and it is not. The book itself was very good, as is the rest of the series. A very touching story about a family living on the Dakota frontier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blessing, Northfield & Chicago JUN 1895 - APR 1897, February 9, 2010

More Than a Dream (Return to Red River #3)

Lauraine Snelling has taken us on another journey from Blessing, to Northfield, to Chicago and back and forth between. She does this intertwining of beloved people and their lives and the places they go, so wonderfully! After you've read the first 6 of her "Red River Of The North" series, and the first 2 of this series "Return To Red River," you'll be looking for more, and the series AFTER this one is "The Daughters Of Blessing." You don't want to miss the next series either! I'm reading all these books through for the 2nd time in 2 years, have studied genealogy and history, and just love all of Lauraine Snelling's books. She has used impeccable sources as she takes us back in history so creatively. In this particular book, "More Than A Dream" she lovingly takes us though many things, there are 4 deaths (2 are particularly sorrowful), a man has a stroke, there are a child's broken bones, a new pet, a graduate takes off, working with "pure" thoughts all season, a new home, a serious life-threatening injury, a marriage, one of the family leaves for far off places, a very beloved character dies, a graduate finishes her degree and goes to the east coast, and a terrible natural disaster happens. Another one of Lauraine Snelling's stories that just catapults you back into history, with the Christian values and love that you know of her characters since day 1. Read this book, and then continue on with the, "Daughters Of Blessing." You'll be VERY glad that you did! Thanks, Lauraine!
