Book Description

Jeni Acerna’s longstanding sexual relationship with her best friend, Brian Hamilton, is both blissful and troublesome. She’s been unable to commit herself to another relationship because no one compares to Brian in or out of bed.

Prior to attending a friend’s wedding together, they place a wager…the first to beg for sex owes the other $500. After a tortuous night, their passion erupts and their sexual relationship picks up where it left off…hot and heavy. However, this time, Brian wants Jeni… and not just in his bed. Can he convince her the risk is worth taking?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read. January 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This was a great little story that kept me engaged throughout. The author did an excellent job blurring the lines between love and lust, and seemed to funnel the reader down a path to a very intense and climatic ending. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Romance with Spice December 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Though the story is short, it is packed full of character. I thoroughly enjoyed Jeni and Brian's relationship. The author gives snippets of their years of friendship that demonstrate this friendship is based on something solid. But its not just a friendship...these two are hot for one another...super HOT! It was a fun read!

4.0 out of 5 stars More Than Friends September 17, 2013
By Tina
Format:Kindle Edition
I won this 40+ page novella as a prize. The story was fairly formulaic: two friends with bennies that spend most of their time, predictably, in the sack, The sex was spicy, and sometimes fun, but there was nothing plot-wise beyond whether they want to make a try at a real relationship or preserve their friendship by keeping a little emotional distance. The writing was fine, sometimes a little repetitious (the author could use a book of synonyms to change up her word choices) but a good read. I wouldn't pay more than 99 cents for it, due to the length. In fact the book was pretty much a combination of sex scenes rather than a story bringing something new and fresh to the reader, but it gets 4-stars because the characters themselves were engaging (they would have made great characters for a full-length novel).

4.0 out of 5 stars Sexy, Steamy and Packs a Punch April 29, 2013

3.5 "Challenge" Kisses

There are certain occasions when you just need a short, sweet, hot read. You just do - not that I don't love getting lost in a long novel for hours, seeing the characters develop, the plot get laid out, there is nothing wrong with those kinds of books. But every now and then just a few pages of two people with a lot of history and chemistry is just what I need to put a smile on my face - and that's what More Than Friends did for me.

When I say it's a quick read, I mean it took me less than an hour to be introduced to Jeni Acerna and Brian Hamilton. Childhood best friends, turned friends with benefits. They've got a good thing, so why ruin it? It all starts with a challenge. Jeni has just broken up with her boyfriend right before her college roommates wedding - so who is there to fill in at the last minute? Of course Brian is. They've never been successful at keeping their hands off each other in a one-on-one situation, hence where the challenge comes into play, can they keep their hands off each other for 24 hours?

`His crooked smile made everything inside of her come alive. It was genuine...and it was sexy...it was naughty but in a good way.'

I really liked Jeni and Brian, they were really cute together and of course you're always hoping one of them is finally going to see the light of day. The story line and situation was playful but relatively realistic. I liked the flow and the writing style as well.

"Being with you this weekend made me realize how much I actually missed you...I miss your smile. Your laugh. Your presence. Our late night conversations while we lie in bed and I hold you. The way you raise your right eyebrow when you think I'm being an idiot.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love this Friends-to-Lovers Tale! April 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
More Than Friends was the most fun I've had in under 50 pages in a while. I love these stories where the person you are meant to be with forever is actually the person who has been there the whole time.

Jeni and Brian have been friends forever, since they were children. Now he is in Ohio and she is in Florida, and her best friend is getting married. Unfortunately for Jeni, she's just broken up with another man, and has no date. Good thing she always has Brian.

Jeni and Brian's history has been so sexually charged that they can barely keep their hands to themselves when they see each other under normal circumstances. But this time Jeni has put a stop to all of that, but as soon as she sees him she knows the stop has to go. And therein comes the bet.

This story was terrific. Both of the characters were fun and enjoyable, and I didn't have a single complaint about either one. The bet was awesome, but $500? Whoa!! That's a lot of money! I think I would be drinking some warm milk and going to bed for the night before I thought about losing $500. But then, I don't know Brian.

When they finally do pair up the sex is incredible. It's hot. The story itself was passionate and exciting. It left me feeling happy and content, and maybe it's the PMS talking, but yes, there might have been a tear of joy somewhere in there.

If you are a fan of these types of shorter stories, then I definitely think More Than Friends is one you should add to your list. I'm finding more and more than I am really enjoying these shorter adventures. This one in particular was perfect from start to finish, and I couldn't have been happier. Jessica Jayne is definitely a new author to me, but I'm going to keep a close eye on her. I see she has another book out, and you can bet your butt I'm about to read it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Super Steamy Entertaining Afternoon Delight April 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
More Than Friends features another of my favorite themes with its friends with benefits storyline. This allows for lots of steamy interludes that burned up the pages. This theme also allows for a relationship to be previously established and easily accepted as their life-long closeness is referenced throughout the story and the evolution into something more substantial becomes something you root for.

Jeni and Brian's interactions are combustible and the sexual tension between them permeates the pages both in and out of the bedroom. They're both sweet and sexy together and having every moment of the story devoted to them made it easy to immerse yourself in their flourishing commitment. Brian is charming and sexy and has slowly come to realize that no woman compares to Jeni and that their occasional meetings are no longer enough. Jeni too knows that no man compares to Brian but worries that their friendship will suffer if a relationship doesn't work out between them. Sometimes you just have to put your heart on the line when reaching for a HEA and considering their life-long closeness it seems as though the HFN conclusion could easily become permanent.

This short story is surprisingly fully fleshed-out with two likable characters amidst lots of super steamy scenes. Jeni and Brian are delightful together with their sexually playful dialogue and sense of closeness and watching their journey towards their HEA makes for an immensely satisfying story. Seeing Ms. Jayne accomplish so much in a short format has me excited to read one of her books in long format and be just as entertained.
