4.0 out of 5 stars Grace... and Mercy, October 11, 2006
This review is from: More Than Grace (The Grace Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
"More than Grace" opens with Gregory, Grace's husband, filling in at the prestigious Lenox Hill hospital in the absence of their top surgeon. Although this is an opportunity for Greg to flirt with his dream job of all time, his dream would cause him to make the decision to leave his position at Robinson Memorial where he is respected as being their top surgeon and love by many. When the position is offered and Grace and Gregory share what appears to be a blessing from God with the rest of the family, it is Grace's Mom who cannot bear to see them leave; she goes into a deep depression concerning them living in New York.

In the meantime, Grace and Gregory's long-time friends begin to go through serious marital problems of their own; their battles touching the lives of their closest friends, but nothing seems to help them get past their troubles to reconcile the strong marriage they always had.

As if this is not enough, Grace comes to find a piece of a missing puzzle in her life that will have an effect on her as well as her mother, as they work through this juncture in their lives.

What I like about this story is the fact that each character comes to a place of change and yield to what God wants them to do in their lives. The events intertwine, overlap and have links to the past that touche their present, but God brings them out victorious as they face these issues head on.

In this wonderful story, we find the characters of Norman-Bellamy's Grace Series at another level in their lives. There is a need for more grace as they each come to terms with something that requires they give more of themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars More Than Grace, April 20, 2006

Gregory Dixon is the doctor that every woman of any age could fall in love with. He's a saved, sexy, surgeon who also happens to be loving and supportive to his friends and family. In "More Than Grace", Greg has to pull out all of the stops to try and be there for his wife, his son, his friends and his job. An unexpected riff arises in the waters of his marriage when Greg unknowingly begins to neglect his wife's needs in an attempt to be there for a longtime female friend. For the first time in their marriage, Grace is jealous...and of her own best friend, no less. She's uncomfortable with the closeness of Sherry and Greg and she's about at her wit's end. I could go on and on because there are so many storylines and so much drama going on in this novel that it makes you want to keep turning the pages for more. I've loved the work of this author for a while now and her books never disappoint me. I think she's the best in her craft and my book club will always be a supporter of her.

"More Than Grace" is the third book in a three-book series and for those of us who fell in love with Greg, Grace and the rest of the gang in boook one, this book is a phenominal ending to the story. Like some of the other reviewers have said, I am sad that the saga is over too. I would love to see more books about these characters.

I loved More Than Grace. My friend and I could not wait until it was release. And as always Kendra has showed us her God given talent.I was in awe at how she tied all the stories together.I enjoyed the romance between Greg and Grace. But I must admit that I was a little sadden that this is the last book in the Grace Series.l know the Lord will always inspire you to write more novels that will reveal for love & grace, people who love because of grace and many challenges we face that is more than grace.

I COULDN'T WAIT FOR THIS BOOK TO BE RELEASED, BUT I AM HAPPY I DID. IT WAS SO GOOD, AND WONDERFUL I READ IT IN A DAY AND A HALF. I WANTED TO SEE WHAT WAS NEXT FOR THE BLESSED COUPLE. THE TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS THAT THEY WENT THROUGH, AS WELL AS THEIR FRIENDS, WAS ROUGH BUT KENDRA SHOWED THAT IN THE END IF YOU JUST PRAY AND BELIEVE IN THE LOVE THAT GOD HAS FOR YOU, YOU CAN JUMP ANY HURDLES IN YOUR LIFE AND HE WILL WORK IT OUT FOR YOU ANY TIME. THIS SERIES WAS A BLESSING TO ME, TO READ IN A CHRISTIAN FICTION BOOK ABOUT GOD AND WHAT HE DOES FOR US. THANK YOU KENDRA FOR YOUR BOOKS AND CAN'T WAIT FOR MORE. CONTINUE TO BE BLESSED.

5.0 out of 5 stars If Books Can Bless, April 4, 2006
By

This review is from: More Than Grace (The Grace Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
If books can bless a person then this is one that does. I had read "Because of Grace" just a few weeks ago so I was really ready to read how the three-book trilogy would end. It was like watching a great series finale of a great television drama. From page one, word one, I was hooked. The first word in the book was "SLAM!" and I couldn't wait to see who had slammed the door in whose face. I don't know what I loved best about this book but it blessed me from cover to cover with the issues that it addressed. I've read books by this author before so I knew I would not be disappointed but I think I was even more pleased with the book than I expected to be. Reading of such intense love between the young married couple (Greg and Grace) was refreshing. People think Christians can't have steamy marriages but they can and I like the way the author really brought that out in this book. The situation between Derrick and Sherry Madison kept me turning pages trying to see what was going to happen next. Emotion, emotion, emotion! That's what this book was about. There was so much anger, sadness, happiness, confusion, shock, surprise and love. And I could feel every bit of all of it. Very well-written and by far my best read of the year to date. Makes me wish there was a fourth book in the series but all good things must come to an end I guess. :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars FINALLY! I Could Hardly Wait!!!!!!!!!!!, April 4, 2006
By
This review is from: More Than Grace (The Grace Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
I thought this book would never come out and when it did I was at the store waiting to pick up the copy that I paid for in advance. Kendra Norman-Bellamy is the bomb! Every book just gets better and better and I haven't been disappointed with anything that I've written by her. I think she is the only author whose books I own every one of. I have followed the story of Greg and Grace since the beginning and More Than Grace was the perfect ending. I couldn't believe the drama and the surprises! I recommend this book to everybody.

5.0 out of 5 stars More Than GREAT!, April 16, 2006
By
Sharon Stone (Kahului, Hawaii) - See all my reviews
This review is from: More Than Grace (The Grace Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
This book was my introduction to this author's works and it makes me want to read everything she's ever written. I bought MORE THAN GRACE at an airport bookstore and read it during a thre-hour plane ride. I had almost given up on this thing called "Christian fiction". I was so tired of reading Christian novels wherein all the love and intimacy and, okay, I'll just say it: SEX was only shown between couples who were dipicted as the "sinners" in the book. The underlying message that books like that gave me was that intimacy/sex was sinful and people who were Christians didn't get to share that wonderful part of life, even within the bonds of holy matrimony. Finally, I have read a Christian novel where a married couple is the center of the story and they love each other and share a strong intimate, sexual, loving bond. Didn't God put his blessing on sex within marriage? I thought so, so why aren't our Chrisian writers showing that in their novels? What are they afraid of? I absolutely love Greg and Grace's relationship in this story and I love the way the author wrote everything so tastefully. There were people having sex, but there were no play-by-play descriptions. There were no curse words in the book, but there were people who were using profanity. I love the way she wrote it where I, as a non-cursing Christian could read it without seeing actual curse words or silly stuff like a bunch of stars **** or blanks ________ where curse words were supposed to be. This author is truly creative and a super writer. Let me say this: her book is African American fiction and I am an Arkansas born white woman in my late thirties and I enjoyed it. This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. I was so into the story that my flight seemed so much shorter. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. This was great from cover to cover. I look forward to reading more books by Ms. Norman-Bellamy in the very near future.

4.0 out of 5 stars More Than Grace, September 18, 2006
This review is from: More Than Grace (The Grace Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
More Than Grace is the final installment of Kendra Norman-Bellamy's BET Grace Series.

Dr. Gregory Dixon and his wife, Jessica Grace Dixon, are excited about life as they raise their son Julian. Greg's career as a surgeon is booming and his superior abilities land him a temporary position at a well-known New York hospital. Despite Greg's hectic schedule which includes traveling to New York periodically to work, he and Jessica are still able to maintain the love and passion they had as newlyweds. However, unlike Greg and Jessica, their best friends, attorney Derrick Madison and his wife, Sherry will experience turbulence in their marriage. One of them desperately wants to have a second child while the other fights against it throughout the story. Will this once loving and vibrant couple allow this disagreement to destroy their marriage? Sherry at times will become discouraged and turn to Greg for encouragement. How will Jessica respond when Sherry goes to Greg for comfort? How will it affect Jessica and Sherry's friendship?

The ever-comical Mattie and Lena, (the mothers of Jessica and Greg respectively), have some major parts in this story as well. Both of them are keeping secrets that will be revealed throughout the story. These revelations will have major effects on their children. Will it bring the families closer together or tear them apart?

Meanwhile Derrick has to defend a young teenage boy who's accused of murder. Derrick tries to figure out why the boy, who's father is a wealthy businessman, would kill a woman for a watch. Did the teenager really do it or was he framed?

Again, Mrs. Norman-Bellamy paints a dynamic picture of prosperous Christian men and women who are faced with difficult decisions, but trust God to handle them. The story is filled with great surprises and it keeps the reader wanting more.

Great ending to a great series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Inspirational Fiction, April 24, 2006
By
This review is from: More Than Grace (The Grace Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
I'm not a new reader but I'm a new inspirational fiction reader. The first spiritual fiction that I read was a book by Jacqueline Thomas called A Change is Gonna Come and I really enjoyed it. I've read a couple of more since then and I liked them too. But it wasn't until I read this book that I felt the push to write a public review. This book is so good that I read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. Books like this one and the one Jacqueline Thomas wrote proves that Christians have drama just like everyone else and I mean major drama. But as my pastor says, God is the drama comma. That means he will put a pause in the drama just long enough for us to see clearly so that we can look to him to work everything out. There are very few books that I read more than once. No matter how much I like them I don't usually read them again. Just like movies that I like. Most of the times I don't watch them again. But I know I'm going to read this book again and I plan to go back and read the other two books in the series too. Thank you Ms. Norman-Bellamy for writing such a good story.
