Excellent, April 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: More Than Memories: The Complete Guide for Preserving Your Family History (No. 1) (Paperback)
I wanted a good basic book on scrapbooking. In the meantime, I found this book is the basis of a PBS program of the same title. I would highly recommend it for a beginner, or even for the experienced scrapper. I refer to it time and again for ideas.

comprehensive, varied approach to modern scrapbooking, February 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: More Than Memories: The Complete Guide for Preserving Your Family History (No. 1) (Paperback)
I have several scrapbooking idea/resource books & this is one of my favorites. It covers the basics comprehensively which is essential for the beginner and refreshing for the advanced enthusist. The chapters are inclusive of most all scrapbooking 'occassions.' Heritage, Home & Family, Cropping Parties, Holidays, Babies, Sports & Leisure, Weddings, etc... The techniques are suprisingly varied because of the many contributors, so all the layouts do not look the same! Included in each chapter is an appropriate font example. Near the end there is also a photo gift chapter. If you're only planning to buy one idea/resource book for your hobby right now, this would be the one to get. I turn to it more than all the others.

Great general scrapping info, February 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: More Than Memories: The Complete Guide for Preserving Your Family History (No. 1) (Paperback)
This is one of the best books I've come across on scrapbooking. It won't overwhelm beginners or bore more advanced scrappers. It has a variety of helpful hints, loads of layouts and some creative lettering by Carol Snyder of EK Success.

Not a "Preservation" Book, November 6, 2009
This review is from: More Than Memories: The Complete Guide for Preserving Your Family History (No. 1) (Paperback)
Let me begin by saying that I am a professional archivist. The title of this book includes the word "preservation," but it should not. This book provides two pages of preservation advice that is inaccurate. It says that one should look for archival quality materials and that this term suggests a material is "permanent." Unfortunately, "archival quality" is not a standardized term and the author's explanation of supplies need to save your materials for the longterm should be more thorough. When preserving materials, one should seek storage supplies that pass PAT, which IS a standard that tells us the materials are safe for photo storage. One should also be sure to purchase items from an archival supplier and not the local box store, which is likely not providing high quality storage. Photos are highly unstable and will fade and discolor over time if not properly maintained. This book comes nowhere near explaining proper maintenance methods. What this book does do is provide lots of pages that show different designs and supplies needed for creating cute scrapbooks. It seems to have some nice ideas if you are a scrapbooker. It should have put scrapbooking in the title.

Very disapointing, November 14, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: More Than Memories: The Complete Guide for Preserving Your Family History (No. 1) (Paperback)
I waited the arrival of this book with a lot of expectative, but it's very disapointing. It's very childish and give not many ideas at all. To me, the worst thing is that it works with fabrics that you only can find if you are at USA; it doesn't help you to make really new creations. I'd like a book that could teach a person from everywhere how to make great creative scrapbooks, and not this one.
