Strobe!
The following letter is a great example of creativity under pressure. Sam received it in an e-mail.
Sam,
It was 10 PM on the second night of a retreat, the weather was cold and wet outside, they were Junior Highers, I was alone, and they were getting restless. It's a scene that could paralyze most people allowing the anarchy of pubescence hormones run amuck. But, I had a secret weapon!
A strobe light!
We played noodle games by the on again, off again rhythms of an inexpensive Radio Shack strobe light. Two hours later, they were satisfied and very tired, making control a non-issue. ... (We played for the championship of the world!)..
Just a new twist on what is becoming a camp favorite.
...
Chuck

50 More Ways to Use Your Noodle offered more GREAT ways to work with people, build teams, and have a great time. I've used the activities with junior high, high school, college, and adult age groups and they all enjoyed the activities and the follow-up discussions really helped open their eyes to new situations or ways of approaching challenges. Easy to follow instructions and fun reading. The biggest challenges I've faced with using these materials are deciding which of the fun activities to use and finding space to keep all of the noodle supplies between trainings! :-)

I do countless groups and this is the best book I have found. The activities are high energy and involves all members of the group. Need large spaces to play most games and be ready for high energy. It takes some prep work to cut the noodles, but it is well worth it. I have used this with 5th grade - 12th grade students as well as adult staff and volunteers. The only thing I hear when we are done is they are ready for some more.
