Victims of cerebral palsy and their families will find inspiration in this story of Larry Patton's life from birth through college graduation, as he anticipates a job at IBM. Medically, personally, and spiritually there is a lot contained here: family dynamics, problems with vocational rehab, and issues of faith (including questions about natural versus supernatural healing and tensions between mainstream churches and alternative para-church communities). Too bad Kastner's rather unremarkable prose often fails to capture the material's emotional depth, but the book does offer balance and clarity.-- EC
