4.0 out of 5 stars Just a fun movie!
Ok, yeah... It's no Pretty in Pink, but this is a great movie. Jon Cryer's charm and (ahem...) singing ability make this movie a riot! It's just a fun comedy that WILL make you laugh. Promise.

3.0 out of 5 stars Horror Movie Fans
OK, I wish I were lucky enough to have been in this movie as an extra. I grew up watching this movie for some odd, sad reason and think it is pretty alright. I wonder if my affection is solely based on my past-watching it almost every Saturday night for about a year on BETA! I think it also has to do with Cryer's ability to make any movie likeable, even an Alan Smithee...

Okay, I know some people don't like this movie. I think that it is a cute 80's flick. I would always watch it when it was on TV and one day I brought a copy of it. Is it worth the [price]? Maybe it should be cheeper. The Actor who played Morgan did a good job
and so did the girl who played his girlfriend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Underrated and overlooked!!!, February 9, 2003

To me "Morgan Stewart..." is one of the most underrated classic 80's movies!! It's got everything you'd expect from a great 80's movie but sadly never got the recognition it deserved. It's one of those movies that I can't help quoting and can't seem to stop watching whenever it comes on TV.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this movie and was so excited to see the dvd release, April 21, 2009

Gosh, I was pretty young when my mother taped Morgan Stewart's Coming Home off of t.v. for me. I watched it pretty frequently, and as I grew up it become sort of a comfort movie and it moved with me, well it wore out. So yay to the DVD Lost Collection.

Morgan Stewart is played by Jon Cryer, he's an awkward teenager who just wants to be part of his family. He's super into horror flicks. Well after a pretty crazy prank at the boarding school the headmaster informs Morgan that his parents called and they want him to come home. Morgan hasn't lived at home since he was about 8 or so. He doesn't really know much about his parents anymore and they certainly don't know or understand Morgan. His dad is a Republican Senator and his mother is an overly structured rigid rule cracking mom.

Morgan meets a fellow horror movie fan and falls in love, and the more Morgan is himself the less his mother understands him and tries to restrict his life. When the restrictions become unbearable Morgan runs away and discovers some political secrets and ...I have to leave you there least I give away the ending.

Simply an 80s teen movie that brings back memories. It's nice to not see cell phones, computers, and other modern things in this movie.

I also like any movie that pays tribute to Horror movie geeks. Come on, the Brady Thanksgiving scene is so very touching!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Often Forgotten 80's Gem, July 16, 2010

This movie seems to be one of those movies that you either love it or hate it. Since the first time I saw the movie in the eighties I have loved it. As a kid I could never remember the name of it though. I would just say "you know the movie with the autographed chainsaw in it" and people always seemed to know what I was talking about. As an adult I watch the movie about twice a year. The movie is not a side-splitting comedy it's more of a funny drama. If you still enjoy watching coming of age movies then I think you should give this movie a try. However; if you can't really relate to the humor of adolescence, you should probably pass.

4.0 out of 5 stars A real diamond in the rough, May 24, 2010

Morgan Stewart"s Coming Home came in the golden era of teen movies that was the 80s and consequently due to the hit/ miss nature of the genre was basically overlooked despite it's charm and appeal. Jon Cryer is great in the movie and at least in my view does better then his forced performances On two and a half men which have won him accolades (note i like the sitcom and i no way wish to demean it but as with all sitcoms the comedy is forced albeit still funny.) where as his acting seemed to flow naturally in this especially when compared to the remainder of the cast. The rest of the cast does their Job as secondary roles in a teen movie always do their performance are specifically limited by the writing to ensure like with all such films the teenager remains the focus. Is it Ferris Bueller? No but name any teen movie that has come close before or since it. The point is this is a comedy well worth the watch and has sadly fallen way under most peoples radars. It's still funny today as it was when it was released and will deliver an hour and a half of entertainment that is well worth experiencing and re-experiencing.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Duckman finally gets the girl of his dreams!, January 11, 2010

If you are a child of the 80's, then you have got to remember this movie! Tje charecter of Morgan Stewart made me fall head over heels for Jon Cryer. I was only 8 when I saw it, but I knew we were destined to be together..lol. Anyway, the story is about a boarding school rejuect, who'll do nothing to get kicked out of these institutions so he can be at home with his Senator dad and socialite mom. But, as it turns out, he had way more freemdom away from home then he does in it. Along the way, he finds friendship(and a little romance)with a local DC girl who teaches him that family, no matter how crazy,is worth fighting for. In the end, he gets the family, girl and life that he's always wanted. Not bad for a totally underrated 80's movie, huh? Enjoy!
