5.0 out of 5 stars This author rocks--More of a Series Review

3.0 out of 5 stars Did they fire all the editors?
I read all of the Morganville books. The plot is interesting enough, but the editing is horrible. If you read the books all the way through there are so many inconsistencies and errors you can't help but wonder if this was a draft publication. You really can't underestimate the power of a good editor.

5.0 out of 5 stars This author rocks--More of a Series Review, January 31, 2010
This review is from: The Morganville Vampires, Vol. 1 (Glass Houses / The Dead Girls' Dance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Sorry, this is more of a "if you're interested in the series" review:
This author is one of the best authors in the vampire genre. No exaggeration, her pacing makes her the queen.
This whole series is action packed, has interesting characters, hooking plots, and I was not disappointed. And unlike most recent vampire books, this one does not take place in high school, but rather a University and a town dedicated to the vampires. I loved the author's town setting. It's creepy, a new society, and you can just feel the characters' tension.

If you read the first books, chances are that you will be reading all of the books, so prepare yourself.
It is very difficult to review just one of these books because they are so connected. They pick up right where they left off--that's how good the author's flow is. My only complaint is the "high school" feeling some of the characters from the University give off.

If you want a quick overview of what the first book is about: Michael Glass has a problem staying in his own home. The problem--he has odd hours and exists only at night but in the daytime he vanishes. No one knows where he goes.

Just a heads up for those who are interested in the series: While the author avoids pre-marital sex for the first few books, it will come up. So be advised if you are planning to buy this for your teen. Not that they're explicit, but hey, this stuff is good to know before buying gifts.

This review is from: The Morganville Vampires, Vol. 1 (Glass Houses / The Dead Girls' Dance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Very very addictive series, I found it very hard to put down and highly recommend that you read the entire series. Cannot wait for more books. The series is action packed with great creativity not exactly a typical vampire series, contains lots of adventure. You will not be dissapointed there is something in here for everyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars The begining of a great series, June 5, 2010

This review is from: The Morganville Vampires, Vol. 1 (Glass Houses / The Dead Girls' Dance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved this book and it instantly sucked me into the series. It is great to have the first two novels in one book. The only thing that I didn't love about it was that a lot went wrong for the main character. A lot. Other than that, the writing and plot are great. The four main characters, Michael, Shane, Eve and Claire are so well written. You will want to be friends with them all. This series is definitely one to check out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good, But Random, December 19, 2009
This review is from: The Morganville Vampires, Vol. 1 (Glass Houses / The Dead Girls' Dance) (Mass Market Paperback)
The Morganville Vampire series is a definite good read, but it's incredibly random. It's as if the author makes it up as she goes. This can be a good thing, though, in the concept that you're never bored. You never hear the "same old this" or "same old that," like you do with 4 out of the 6 of the Vampire Kisses: The Beginning books (great series, don't get me wrong). It's always something new and exciting!

A definite good read for any fans of a sexy, fun thriller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected., June 21, 2011
This review is from: The Morganville Vampires, Vol. 1 (Glass Houses / The Dead Girls' Dance) (Mass Market Paperback)
My sister loaned me the book to read a few months ago and I never picked up the book. Honestly, I figured it would be like any other vampire book - and I felt like it would be exactly like Twilight. A few days ago, I decided to give the book a chance and sat down to read it. Within a few pages, I was already drawn in. I couldn't put it down. The story line is absolutely brilliant! I found myself going through so many emotions as I read on. I have to applaud Rachel Caine for her wonderful work and I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two in one equals undead fun!, January 4, 2011
This review is from: The Morganville Vampires, Vol. 1 (Glass Houses / The Dead Girls' Dance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Glass Houses:
Claire finds herself in quite a bind. 1)Queen Bitch, Monica, and her converts, Jennifer and Gina, want to kill her and 2)the college town she is currently living in, Morganville, is more dangerous than anyone knows. This is because Morganville is run by vampires. Will her human enemies kill her or will the vampires?
The Dead Girls' Dance:
With her boyfriend's vamp hunting father in town, Claire can't quite sleep well at night. Then, Shane gets thrown into a cage! Now she has to find away to prove his innocence before time runs out without getting bitten by the vampires that run Morganville. Oh, we don't want to make the cuwddulily widdle vampires mad, now do we?

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Most Amazing Vampire Books Ever, October 4, 2010

This review is from: The Morganville Vampires, Vol. 1 (Glass Houses / The Dead Girls' Dance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I absolutely love this series. It, Vampire Diaries, Bloody Jack, and Harry Potter are constantly warring for my favorite book series. The characters are realistic and interesting. They are very dimensional. First is Calire. I love how Claire manages to be strong and smart, but still unexpirenced in other things. I love how she is constantly reaching new levels and surprising others and herself. For example cpoming up with a plan to save her freind, Shane, in both the Glass House and Dead Girl's Dance. I also love how she describes bullying. It's very believable. Next is Eve. Eve is one of my very avorite characters. she'sa goth, but not in the "I'm so depressed all of the time" sort of way more the "yeah i'm theatrical and I'm myself." Next is Miachel. Miachel is the owner of the Glass House where Claire moves in. He manages to be sweet, responsible, and cute at the same time. But he does have a secret tha tCLaire just happens to find out. He's part ghost! Last is Shane, another one of my favorite character. He, too manages to be a cool slacker and still be realistic with actual problems. He's also funny.
These books are amazing but be aware you're in for some major cliff hangers.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVED IT!!!, November 15, 2009
This review is from: The Morganville Vampires, Vol. 1 (Glass Houses / The Dead Girls' Dance) (Mass Market Paperback)
So i admitt that i do not own this paticualar book but i do own the whole series and must say that i love rachel caine's world or morganville. this book is basically part 1: glass houses and part 2: dead girl's dance rolled into one longer book. if i could sum up the total pages into each morganville book they are at most 225 pages each and packed with action, funny characters, and plots and twists that left me wondering at night. i do admitt though that i did find myself wanting to reach into the book and slapping the main character a couple of times for pulling some of the stupidest moves that i have ever read in a vampire book but i guess that's the charm that rachel caine magically wove into claire danvers. Morganville is an easy read and very fast to get into. i recommend it to anybody who wants to explore a new world of vampires.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Hope This Series Never Ends, January 21, 2012

This review is from: The Morganville Vampires, Vol. 1 (Glass Houses / The Dead Girls' Dance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Let me just say that I'm a very speedy reader because of this series. I just can't put it down. And I never ever read books. I even purchased a Kindle for this and plan to get the Kindle Fire soon. I'm on book 10 now and I'm getting down because I only have 2 books left until the next one. I'm so glad I took a chance on this. I'd have to say that of the vamps, Myrnin and Oliver would be my favs. And Claire is just so Bad Ass! Michael is so sweet. The stories and twists in each book are great. You just don't know what to expect. I'm reading other vampire books but this just tops it. If you're considering this you won't regret it. Believe me.

4.0 out of 5 stars 2 at a clip, January 10, 2012
By
This review is from: The Morganville Vampires, Vol. 1 (Glass Houses / The Dead Girls' Dance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Anyone interested in this should note that this book actually contains the first 2 stories of the Morganville Vampire series "Glass Houses" and "The Dead Girls' Dance".

For me, who didn't own any of the books before this, the volume series (each volume contains 2 books) is a nice way to get a copy of the great books without having to buy each individually.

Story-wise, this series is amazing. It's a different take on Vampire mythology and while it features teenage characters, it doesn't have a juvenile tone (some YA books have a very young tone with pop culture references and unbelievably bad dialouge...Morganville Vampires is not like this). If you're an adult reader of YA work, you'll probably enjoy this series.

If you like vampires,or just paranormal stories (there's more tha vampires in this series) you should check this out. If you're looking for a well-written series, Morganville Vampires is for you.
