This disc contains only the album proper.
Kevin D. Rathert
Track four "Eternity In Between" plays much like a classic BYRDS tune of the same-era, with a more melodic feel and harmony vocals.
T. Kasuboski
It's actually a good well-rounded album for the more casual fan of psychedelia and hard rock.

Much has already been written about MORGEN's classic 1969 "Morgen" LP(originally released on ABC Records/Probe) so I'll try to keep this short-yeah right. This highly respected album has it all and something to offer for anyone who's a fan of late-60s underground rock music. It is essentially a psychedelic record at heart, however opening masterpiece "Welcome To The Void" is SO fuzzed out you quickly realize this band is straight outta the garage(in all the best ways, like THE SEEDS, 13th FLOOR ELEVATORS, ELECTRIC PRUNES, etc.). The listener also quickly realizes that this is a no-holds-barred LP with a spectacular knob-job production done mostly by the band. MORGEN were not afraid to blend styles to achieve their trip. The second tune "Of Dreams" is musically a classic hard-psych tune, starting with a monsterously heavy guitar chord(BLACK SABBATH level heavy), with vocalist/lead guitarist Steve Morgen's strangely enunciated vocals laid on top. Add in some just KILLER fuzzed out soloing(with about 3 guitars laid on top of one another complete with wah-pedal and feedback galore, very similar to THE STOOGES) and you have a classic. The third track "Beggin Your Pardon(Miss Joan)" starts with a killer bass line and the lyric "I want to touch you, I want to fill you with my fire...". This track has it all as far as delivering the goods in the heavy department(just check out the orgasmic vocals of Steve Morgen-makes me wonder if Robert Plant might have heard this tune). Yet, the tune is still so spaced out that it remains in the realm of psychedelic rock. It ends with a super-bass heavy guitar freak-out and cool short drum solo. Track four "Eternity In Between" plays much like a classic BYRDS tune of the same-era, with a more melodic feel and harmony vocals.Read more ›

This is one of the top albums of the "heavy psych" genre. There are elements of punk, uk psych, Hendrix, hard rock, etc.. It's a tough lp and a tough lp to find. I recommend it for fans of the genre without reservation. It's actually a good well-rounded album for the more casual fan of psychedelia and hard rock.

I dare anyone to point out a single track on this 7 song LP that doesn't have absolutely wonderful guitar work on it. The 10 minute 50 second classic "Love" stands out, but is the norm not the exception. Guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Steve Morgen made only this one album and a 7" with mono edits of "Of Dreams" c/w "She's The Nitetime" (both found on the album in extended, stereo mixes). This disc contains only the album proper. A 2005 release by Korean World Psychedelia Ltd. contained the single sides as bonus tracks, so while I highly recommend the disc offered here I would highly recommend tracking down a copy of the Korean release as well. Every song contains excellent guitar work and introspective lyrics. Unfortunately Steve Morgen went into acting following the release of "Morgen" and never again recorded. What a loss for the music industry. But what a legacy he left behind. This is one of those albums that really is as good as they say it is. And then some!

I bought this album on vinyl 30 years ago in a discount bin and only played it once. I forgot about it until recently when I reconnected with my vinyl albums and decided to create a database and put all of them into it. Thus, I found Morgen.

This album is worth some big bucks to collectors because of its rarity. However, I still could not remember what it sounded like. I finally finished my database and started burning the albums to CD. Morgen was the first attempt.

Now that I've heard it again, I can see why I never played it. The singing on the first few cuts is just atrocious! However, the music is pretty good. The overall tone sounds muffled as if they did not have the proper equalization in the studio, sort of like Alice Cooper's first album, Pretties For You. However, that also adds to the charm and psychedelic feel of it. Since this album came out in 1969, it was kind of on the back end of the psychedelic era and I'm sure that didn't help sales.

Despite the rather amateurish singing, I really like this album and the vocals add to the charm. There are seven cuts, averaging about four minutes each except for the last cut, Love, which is over ten minutes. To say the album is psychedelic, is as accurate as one could get. It has the feel, song structure, and of course, the fuzz guitar that add up to a fascinating musical journey. There is even a little bit of keyboard and some harmony guitar parts here and there.

I have no idea what the words are about since I don't listen to them, but I'm sure they're full of, as Zappa would say, "candyrock psychedelic profundities."

During the recording process to my computer, I listened to the album all the way through a total of three times (just didn't know how to use the software).
