Product Description

Peccatum’s second EP and fifth overall release offers three new recordings: "The Moribund People", "A Penny’s Worth Of Heart", and a unique cover of Bathory’s "For All Those Who Died". Showcasing the eerie and bizarre elements that populated previous full-length Lost In Reverie, Peccatum bravely continues to tread fresh ground with every new song—a treasure for those demanding high-end symphonic avantgarde darkrock. The Moribund People also offers a video clip of the title track, a first for this special duo (which includes Ihsahn, formerly of the legendary Emperor.

5.0 out of 5 stars great single!, September 25, 2005

I came into Peccatum through Emporer; and though it would be stupid to compare the two, I think Insahn found his calling in Peccatum. They started off sounding alittle along the lines of an Emperor side-project, but by their second full-length they quickly dispelled the idea.

This single is no exception. Some people have slagged it as too verse-chorus-verse but, " It's a single. They typically are" As singles go, it's a great one. Very sweeping and epic. It sounds like (as well as the second song)what Lost In Reverie was trying to accomplish.

I look forward to their next CD

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth any price, March 31, 2009
This review is from: Moribund People (Audio CD)
I really don't think that reviewers here should rate an album based on its price or the number of songs on it, that's clearly not the point. Reviews, in my opinion must be based on music. And, The Moribund People, while containing 3 songs and an artistic video worths much the listening and viewing experience. The title song itself (and the video) would worth any price. This song is a pure work of art that could oddly be a pop song if that was not about such a dark and misanthropic subject and those harsh passages graced by Ihsahn. A classically build song, with strong arrangements on a very melodic line. The second song is an experiment of opposing two musical approach, trip hop/electro/ambiant towards melodic death/black metal, resulting in an interesting piece but not as haunting as the first. The third song is a Bathory cover and comes out as a real homage to the epic Quorthon's songwriting. A minimalist beginning on the piano with Ihriel melancholic voice that is quickly drown in Ihsahn's black metal carnage in quite a raw way.

The low budget video is strange, very avant-garde or post modern if you wish. I like it a lot. This is different from what we're used to see.

only 3 songs. that's a shame for a total of 15 minutes listenning, and more over for the price.
