This is the one!,

This review is from: Mormon Tabernacle Choir: The Sound of Glory-Battle Hymn of the Republic (Audio CD)
If you want to hear the best of the best, this CD is it. These hymn arrangements are just beautiful and very touching. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys the choir and wants to feel a little closer to heaven. The choir seems to sing literally with one voice and you feel like they are singing just for you. Congratulations to the new conductor, Craig Jessop and all those who contributed to the quality that went into producing this CD.

A good mix of the familiar and unfamiliar,

This review is from: The Sound of Glory [Hybrid SACD] (Audio CD)
The Morman Tabernacle Choir used to sound mighty impressive on the old mono LPs; how much better they sound on CDs with Telarc's Direct Stream Digital. Granted that each of their albums sound pretty much alike in their choice of songs and in the style in which they are sung, I was happy to see that their latest offering, "The Sound of Glory" (CD-80579) at least includes some not overly familiar selections such as "Lead, Kindly Light" and "Take Time to Be Holy" along with the truly familiar ones such as "Simple Gifts" and "The Battle Hymn of the Republic." Craig Jessup conducts the Chorus with the Orchestra at Temple Square in (according to a sticker on the jewel case of my copy) a celebration of Salt Lake City 2002.Without their realizing it, the producers have given us a very timely offering after the events of September 11, 2001. Thanks for that.

A Must for the Sabbath,
By A Customer
This review is from: Mormon Tabernacle Choir: The Sound of Glory-Battle Hymn of the Republic (Audio CD)
I LOVE IT!!! What better way to enjoy the Sabbath than to sing of the Lord's Praises with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir? This album is just the ticket! It's very powerful, and uplifting. What? You mean I can only give this album five stars? But that doesn't even BEGIN to do it justice! I love it. Truly a masterpiece!
