This book is wonderful: comforting, challenging, and sustaining. So many days, I am amazed by how this book speaks to me exactly where I am. For years, my mother and grandmother both read this book everyday. I now understand the appeal. I know it will be a lifelong companion for my spiritual walk.

Spurgeon displays his special gift of expressing truth so beautifully yet in a way that inspires devotion to God and meditation on God's Word, not Spurgeon's. As the title suggests, this devotional offers 2 daily readings, instead of one per day that's typical of most devotionals.

This book has helped me to refocus on my relationship with God. I have learned some new ways of looking at things in the Scriptures and some things have been re-iterated for me. I enjoy reading the morning devotional during my morning prayer time and the evening devotional helps me to focus on God before going to bed rather than on the worries of the day. I want to get a copy of it for most of my friends as I think it would be a blessing to them. I am referring to the New International Version of the text.

Clearly my favorite devotional book, Spurgy has a superb eloquence of speech and deep pattern of thought. He paraphrases scripture to explain other scripture and causes the provocation of thought. His metaphors and analogies are totally awesome. This devotional is for the growing Christian looking for more than just milk!

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST, IF NOT THE BEST DAILY DEVOTIONAL I'VE READ. THE MATERIAL IS ABSOLUTELY RELEVANT AND UP-TO-DATE FOR DAILY LIVING WITH GOD.

We speak about spiritual milk for new believers. In cultural context, this book is not that. Inclusive of all original thees and thous, this devotional takes some chewing. What in reality can come off as legalistic theology is in fact just the ways in which language has not succeeded in transcending the ages.

Nevertheless, the writing is beautiful, and inspiringly classic. The messages are true, and challenging. Spurgeon remains a great teacher still today.

The daily readings are significant for today's issues in wondering what God would like each of us to value from His Word. Spurgeon may have been an 1800s Man of God, but the meditations are on point for this day and age! A closer walk can be gained by adding this volume to your daily readings.

This book is a gift for a young lady in our church. My prayer is that she will read these devotions and grow closer to the Lord. Here's a little summary of the book---each devotion is dated so one can start reading anytime and read 2 devotions each day of the year, each devotion provides meditation on a scripture reference that is given at the beginning of each devotion, portions of scripture are taken from every book of the Bible, the devotions are short and easily can be read in about 5-10 minutes, a subject and scripture index are, also, included at the end of the book. I believe Charles Spurgeon's insight and counsel in this book is as relevant today as it was in his day.

This is a very valuable book to own for anyone who wants to grow in a relationship with Jesus. Wonderful stuff.
