Nothing new on this release represented by a variety of labels but, a well rounded introduction to the jazz artistry of tenor saxophonists Alvin Gilbert "Al" Cohn & John Haley "Zoot" Sims. Opening with late 40's all-star sax sections comprised of Getz,Cohn, Sims, Moore & Eager to the classic Cohn/Sims two tenors straight ahead style plus rhythm, and, a taste from a Prestige date ("Tenor Conclave" based on "Just You, Just Me" changes) with Coltrane, Mobley, Sims & Cohn plus rhythm. To the uninitiated, or, the simply curious about these legendary swingers "Morning Fun" is a convenvient and well balanced introduction. The excellent re-mastered sound quality is an added bonus. To the devoted legion of Al & Zoot "Morning Fun" is a reminder of why these two alumni of Woody Herman's "Four Brothers" (2ND. Edition) were so revered by musicians & fans alike. A match made in jazz heaven certainly.
