Product Description

Size:5-Pound

This optic white fiberfill is perfect for making dolls. Artisans across the country use this product because it is easy to pack into the tiniest parts and it stays there. It's not so slick that it slides back out. It is dense yet lofty so it makes great pillows and stuffed animals too. Pure white fiber does not create shadow look in the light color or lightweight fabrics. Machine washable and hypoallergenic. Made in USA

This "was" THE BEST fiberfill product in the world. I have been using it for years. My last order of 2 - 5 pound boxes were shocking. The product description states:

Dense yet lofty
Available in 20-ounce bags or 5-pound box
Pure white fiber does not create shadow look
Machine washable and hypo-allergenic
Made in the USA

It is NO LONGER white, it is a dingy gray color. It sheds and breakes off leaving tiny fibers everywhere. It has a strange clumpy feeling, not soft and lofty like the original white formula. It also does not pack as hard for scultpting like the old formula. Both huge boxes were packed up tonight for return. I will be looking for a substitute with another brand. I am so disappointed I could literally cry. WHY have the best stuffing on the planet and ruin it? I thought maybe mine was a unique problem but I looked on the Morning Glory Facebook page and others were commenting on the change. There is no phone number anywhere to talk to the manufacturer to get any information either.

Update: MORNING GLORY CRAFT PRODUCTS Facebook page posted this comment when I gave the review there: "The color has nothing to do with the viability of the product. Polyester fiberfil is an oil based product and the pricing has been all over the place. MG's goal was to maintain the quality of the crimp and fiber and let the color go instead of raising pricing. What are your thoughts? Willing to pay a lot more. Prices have not been raised in 4 year." My response: "Morning Glory: WHY is it advertised as WHITE on Amazon? Why does it shed now? This was NOT just a color change. Why were consumers not told of the changes before purchasing "what they thought" was a reliable product. I use large quantities of fiberfill in my business.

My wife discovered Morning Glory polyester fiberfill about a year ago and has found it perfect for stuffing dolls she makes for the grandkids. Recently she ran low and went back to WalMart to buy more in the 5-lb. box, only to find they no longer sell it. She researched on the internet and found references that the manufacturer has been working with Walmart to carry it again, but that seems to have been going on for more than a year and so far no success. On searching the internet, the best price I can find is from Amazon.com at $16.99 per 5-lb. box. That's much higher than the $8. per box I see quoted for Walmart here and there on the internet, but that price is a couple years old. We are all painfully aware of what oil prices have done in the last year or two, so the higher price is probably justified. I was on the internet this morning placing an order with Amazon when my wife, while searching, saw the alarming report on the internet that recent orders of Morning Glory Polyester Fiberfil have produced boxes of gray dusty fiberfill that feels terrible to the touch. She stopped me immediately from completing the order for fear of getting several boxes of stuffing she wouldn't be able to use.

At that point we looked further into it on line. At first, we were alarmed by reports that you can't find a phone number to get hold of the manufacturer to discuss anything. And calls to various WalMart, JoAnn and Hobby Lobby outlets were uninformative. So we decided to try to find the manufacturer. There is no google result for a search for "Morning Glory" that is useful. And while there is no phone number on the Fiberfil package, there is, in tiny print on the Polyfil bag, the note: Manufactured by Carpenter Co., Taylor TX. That allowed me to find a phone number from a google search: 512/365-5833.

This used to be the BEST stuffing on the market for artists and craftspeople like myself--NO MORE! The boxes I just ordered will definitely be my last! The stuffing is advertised as white (and it used to be) and is now a dingy, gray, clumpy poor quality substitute. It appears to be a by-product of some type of manufacturing and not the quality I have come to expect from Morning Glory. The most misleading thing is that the box/packaging is exactly the same, and yet the contents couldn't be more different. This fiberfill is like the stuff they sell in the textile district in Los Angeles for $7-8.00 per 20 pound bag. It is clumpy and sheds profusely! The dingy color shows through any light colored item being stuffed. I used to be able to stuff 30 of a particular item with one 5 pound box, that's now down to 22 items with this stuff. Same weight--totally different texture, loft, color...need I go on.

I used to purchase approximately 40-50 boxes per year! Thankfully, I'll be using Monterey Mills from now on (their Grade A product is excellent.) For those needing smaller quantities, I now recommend Mountain Mist brand and steer people away from Morning Glory...so sad!

This is the stuffing of choice for doll makers... and we were so happy to find it here, but not at this price $29.99--------PRICE GOUGING-----wal mart sold it for $8.00 for a 5 lb box. Marshall dry goods sells it for $9.18 for a 5 lb box - you have to call to order, as it does not appear on their web site, at the time I ordered. When Amazon gets competitive, I will buy.

Thanks so much f0r making this stuffing at a more affordable price. Oct 14 2010
