More About the Author

Nicola Karesh was born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1961. During her early school years, Nicola's interests related to field hockey, reading, writing and music. She attended St. Andrew Preparatory, Junior and High schools, before moving to America in 1979 to attend the University of Tampa.

Nicola received her BA in Psychology with a minor in French and Spanish in 1983. The smaller University made it easier for her to settle into this new life abroad. Not quite ready to return to her native home, Nicola continued her higher education at the University of South Florida. In 1985 she completed the graduate programme, receiving a Master's in Counselor Education.

Nicola practised as a counselor and therapist in various settings: jail and correctional institutions, public school system (K-12), mental health and treatment agencies. For several years, she had a private practice as a therapist and mentor before making the decision to focus primarily on home-schooling her two children.

In 2006, Nicola was invited to participate in an online poetry group where she re-discovered her love of writing and her joy in connecting with others.

Her first book, "Morning Glory: Poetry And Reflections," is a beautiful collection of writings from the heart over a three year period.

Nicola enjoys writing about personal life experiences and common themes that most people will easily relate to. She shares issues where she has struggled and come to resolution. Her poetry reflects her love of nature and animals, her inner exploration and unfolding relationship with the Divine.

Words are magical... they have energy with the ability to lift your spirits or bring tears to your eyes...put together in phrases and stanzas, Nicola Karesh allows you to see the beauty of her soul. She leads you along the path of her life through the pictures she creates with her words. We share her joy and happiness, her inspiration, her sorrows and doubts, and through it all we find peace and comfort at a life well lived.

Nicola, I'm savoring your beautiful book a little at a time. It's like being hit with a ray of sunshine! I'm glad you also included the times when you questioned and struggled to surrender, etc. Makes it more real. I'm enjoying "Morning Glory" very much!

I got this book for myself and will be purchasing copies for friends and family over the holidays. I find myself going to it to inspire my morning meditations and then I can't put it down. Lovely, thought-inspiring poetry.

Nicola and I may have grown up in different locales yet our love of moment and realization of the Ecstatic energy that pulses through us and our own lives is palpable. Both Morning Glory and my own book of Ecstatic Poetry- Wild Joy:Ruminations-, seem to have been written by one hearing the very voice of the Beloved. Who knows? Maybe, we each transcribe the glory we see, taste and hear in the morning of our lives.
