I ran across Cat Stevens on YouTube singing this song from 1976, which he did very well. It turns out his name is now Yusuf, shortened from Yusuf Islam. Recording of music is good in that it leaves a legacy of performer. Amazon is good too in helping to make it easy to select and download beautiful music for a wide variety of artists.

Many artists have covered this song which is possibly over a thousand years old. It originally came through the church to Europe and had been sung by clerics and monks for many years. His version is by far the best of this song and he is probably most remembered for it.

Cat Stevens was one of my favorite artists in high school and I used to play many of his songs on my guitar. I saw him in concert back in 1972 and was very disappointed when he played for exactly one hour and refused to play an encore.

I grew up in the 70's and Cat Stevens was one of my classic favorites. The song, "Morning Has Broken" has always been a favorite with all my family. At my mother's request we had this song played at her funeral.

The old Cat Stevens had a way with words and a most sweet melodious voice. I listened to all his albums back in the 60's
him along with Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Donovan and Dylan and beatles were our people

I have loved this song ever since Cat Stevens recorded it. The melody and the message are simply beautiful. The song was included in the last edition of the hymnal of the Episcopal Church.

A beautiful song. It was written long ago by a lady in Germany but everyone thinks Cat Stevens wrote it because he sang it first in America. He does anice job singing but didn't write it.
