Watch out for fees of warranty returns
on April 10, 2012
I'm less concerned about the range of the device; even 5-10 feet is a help.
However, I am concerned about the reliability, apparent lack of quality control, and fees charged by warranty department, to process a claim.
I purchased a spare and turns out it is defective; didn't realize it at first; thought it was the batteries. After spending another $9 for a couple of new batteries, I finally figure out that the device likes to eat batteries. It does manage to work the lock once or twice before the batteries are too dead; guess I should be thankful. So, in an apparent random selection from their inventory, seems half of the remotes they sent me are defective. Good news it's covered under warranty. Bad news is that Morning Industry wants $10 to send me a replacement, with of course, no guarantee that the replacement won't also be defective and cost me an additional $10 until they get it right. We're talking about a remote control device that weighs an ounce or so! "The $10 charge is a flat rate charge for shipping and handling." is simply a rip-off that must know their product quality is lacking. Not acceptable. I've offered to mail them the original with a pre-postage-paid envelope; waiting for a favorable reply.
