This book is a fascinating story by the author. It is set in Trinidad and Tobago in the 1950's and details in story form an existing culture that now appears unreal. It is amazing to be confronted with life in a colonial state and the fact that people largely accepted the status quo. It however explains some present day norms and lifestyles. The writer keeps you interested in events as it unfolds in this state where colour, class and status is the be all and end all of everything. It is a must read and a book to keep in your library.
