Very soon after receiving this book for Christmas, our two-year-old son had memorized it. (The best compliment a kid can give a book!) He asks us to read it to him almost every night, but we've never had to read -- he recites the poems to us, word for word. Jane Dyer's illustrations bring to life the characters in Cynthia Rylant's poems, making the children in the book as real to our son as his friends in the neighborhood.

I was given this book as a gift for my newborn son. We have read all the poems aloud many times, and I easily (without knowing I was doing it) memorized "Sleepy-boy" and it is now part of our bedtime ritual every night. These poems read alound well and describe all sorts of things your baby/toddler will know about, from getting up in the morning to going to bed at night. These are a great companion.

This book was written by a grandmother and has precious poems and beautiful water color illustrations which your loving toddler grandchildren will love and want you to read again and again! Lots of everyday activities and cuddly words set in rhyming verses!

We received this book when my daughter was a toddler. She is our first and we loved it then, and now three more kids later it is still a favorite. I was sorry to see it is out of print. But, I am ordering one of the last copies here to give my sister for her first child's first birthday.
