5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every single penny
I bought the first release of Morning View as soon as it came out knowing I would like it and to my surprise, I liked it even more. I had the cd for almost a year and I haven't reviewed it but I will later. As for this limited release you may think why should I buy this when I already have the cd, well the cd is limited so you might not want it now but you will want it...

3.0 out of 5 stars 5-star CD, but...
Well, I bought this album in October 2001, three days after it came out because it was a "LIMITED EDITION CD, Includes exclusive video footage of the making of 'Morning View' in CD ROM multimedia!!" (Direct quote from the sticker on the jewel case). So after a couple months I saw that my version of the CD was no longer in stores, so then I could say that I have CD with...

I bought the first release of Morning View as soon as it came out knowing I would like it and to my surprise, I liked it even more. I had the cd for almost a year and I haven't reviewed it but I will later. As for this limited release you may think why should I buy this when I already have the cd, well the cd is limited so you might not want it now but you will want it later. The DVD has 3 features on it:

(1)The video for "Are you in?"
(2)Behind the scenes of the tour thats about 17 minutes long
(3)A discography of all the dvds released

This limited release also has the only feature (the key) to unlock the never-before-seen nighttime version of "Are you in" video. So should you buy it? I did.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great CD content, average DVD, December 10, 2002

Hello:

It is not a mistery that Incubus' Morning View is an exellent piece of work, such as Make Yourself or S.C.I.E.N.C.E, still innovative and creative. Their music has evolved to better rythms and lyrics, and they still have a great variety of styles to play, not just common rock. Take, for example, the difference in style between Just a Phase and Have you Ever.
The DVD is very limited. It includes the video of Are You In and a backstage that finishes with a live presentation of "Warning". It also includes the discography of DVD's.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incubus does it again, October 17, 2002

I've owned this album for nearly a year, and I decided I owe it to Incubus and to anyone who doesn't own this album to write a review. Morning View is a great album. At first I didn't like it as much as Make Yourself or S.C.I.E.N.C.E., I thought they "sold out" because the sound was different than what I expected. But then the obvious became more clear with every time I listened to Morning View... this is a totally unique sound - incredible music, brilliant lyrics, superb vocals by Brandon Boyd. No, Incubus definately has not sold out. They are simply evolving as a band, and growing in talent. Morning View is an incredible work of art by a band that you can expect plenty more from in the future. And if you haven't seen this band live, get yourself some tickets! The Morning View tour is incredible, I saw them in Cincinnati where I live and it was probably the most fun I've ever had... they were perfect!

I totally thought that it was worth buying the morning view cd for the 2nd time just to get the bonus dvd. Hey a hard core Incubus fan has to do what they have to do. I had to make sure that I could keep my collection complete to date. So I love the dvd..it's funny as hell, and I totally luv it! INCUBUS I LUV YA!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A new spin on music, November 10, 2002

Incubus, in my opinion, has to be one of the best bands of this era. I have every single one of their CD's and this one has to be one of the best. Their music is so different and original that it needs to be put into a class by itself. If you like any kind of music I recomend this CD. It kicks some major... Brandon Boyd (lead singer) has a unique rythmic voice along with guitar, bass, drums, and DJ this band can play anything from their dream-like 'aqueous transmission', to their "angry" 'Blood on the ground'...buy this CD even before you buy food. It's so worth it.

If you have Morning View don't pay 13 bucks for the dvd. I did thinking the songs were live. They're not. I gave it 5 stars cause Morning View is a good album, but not good enough to buy twice. I was tricked by the different cover and the "limited tour edition" above the track listings. When I opened the case to find it was the same one I bought last year, I was kinda upset. The dvd is good though. Good video, funny tour stuff.

This review is from: Morning View (Limited Edition w/ Bonus DVD) (Audio CD)
This is one of my favorite Incubus albums. All the songs are great and will instantly make you an Incubus fan (if you are not already). This is really a great album to start with if you're curios of Incubus's sound.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice To Know You is one of *the* best start off tracks EVER in music history...! November 8th, 2007, November 7, 2007
This review is from: Morning View (Limited Edition w/ Bonus DVD) (Audio CD)
And Brandon is one sexy Aquarian specimen if I do say so myself!

Nice To Know You 9/10
Circles 7/10
Wish You Were Here 8/10
Just A Phase 7.5/10
11 AM 8/10 "Forgive my indecision. I am only a man..." Love that part! =D
Blood On The Ground 8.5/10 This track simply rocks. I <3 Brandon!
Mexico 8/10
Warning 9/10
Echo 7.5/10
Have You Ever? 7.5/10
Are You In? 8/10 Unique feel-good jam
Under My Umbrella 7.5/10
Aqueous Transmission 8.5/10 Peaceful, and yet again, unique

All too short in my opinion.

S.C.I.E.C.E. had one good song at best (Summer Romance), and Make Yourself was probably their best album, years ago. Now though, A Crow Left Of The Murder is their most "experimental" as well as their best work. Light Grenades is their latest, and somewhere in the middle. Who cares about the rest?! >_> This is all my opinion though. Maybe someone out there agrees!

104/13= 8

4 stars Even.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bonuses probably for collectors only..., June 9, 2005

This review is from: Morning View (Limited Edition w/ Bonus DVD) (Audio CD)
As many have said, the DVD content is pretty limited. Tour videos, a music video, and an abundantly useless discography. It speaks of online offers for a "night time" version of the 'Are You In?' video, but if you're like me and just got the album, the video is no longer available.

As for the music, this is probably what Make Yourself should've been. The sound has improved a bit, and Brandon no longer sounds drowned out by the band.

The best songs are '11 am', 'Just A Phase', 'Mexico', 'Under My Umbrella', and 'Aqueous Transmission'. 'Under My Umbrella' is a nice fast pace sound, with an awesome bridge reminiscent of Porcupine Tree. 'Aqueous Transmission' mixes West with the East and is very effective. The only song I really have a problem with is 'Blood On The Ground'; it just isn't the greatest song ever, and the lyrics are pretty bad.

The best thing about this album is how Incubus tries to display as wide a range as can be managed in the nu-metal-esque genre (yes I know they are not nu-metal). There's dynamic changes, occasional variety in instrumentation, dissonance, and genre fusion (see Aqueous Transmission).

If you're into Incubus, this album gets my highest recommendation (second to A Crow Left Of The Murder).
