5.0 out of 5 stars Protect your gauge and look professional
This gauge cover should come on every Moroso pressure gauge. Yeah, $5 is a little steep for a piece of rubber, but it will make your gauge last longer and keep it looking nice. Oh...and you don't need to disassemble the gauge to put the cover on as the instructions say. The hole in the gauge cover will stretch and go over the air chuck and bleeder valve no problem. No...

No silicone lube is needed either. It took about 30 seconds to put this on the gauge.

This product does exactly what it says it will do---it protects a Moroso tire pressure gauge. Unfortunately, the instructions that come with this product are absolutely awful, hence the 3-star rating. The instructions tell you to remove the bleeder valve assembly from the gauge in order to install the cover, but this is impossible because the bolt on the gauge is waaaaayyyy over-tightened. I count this as a negative against the cover and not the gauge itself, since you would normally have no reason to disassemble the gauge.

Even with a vice grip and a wrench, I was unable to remove the bleeder valve from the gauge head, but I sure did scratch up the nut attached to the hose. In the end, I was able to slowly and carefully slide the cover over the entire length of the hose and onto the gauge head. I have no idea if my "sensitive instrument" pressure gauge still has the accuracy it's supposed to have after being banged up, but Moroso needs to seriously consider revising their instructions or their manufacturing process for the gauges (or both).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great idea, November 30, 2008

I think the gauges should come with these already. Don't follow the installation directions, just lube it with some soapy water; there's enough "give" in the rubber to work it up over the hose and onto the gauge without disassembling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better looks and grip, May 11, 2008

The guage has a cheap look and feel without the cover, I agree it should come with the gauge, but since it does not the best thing to do it purchase it. Each time you grab the gauge you will appreciate the cover and it does help protect it as well.

I'll state the obvious - it's too expensive and should have been included with the Moroso 89560 tire pressure gauge. However, if you don't buy it you'll wish you would have because the gauges have a light/cheap feeling to them (not the whole gauge - just the head). I topped off 8 tires on my two cars this evening, and for every tire I put the gauge down on the ground twice (to check before and after). If I didn't have this big rubber cover surrounding my gauge it would have been scratched up by now. The cover sticks out over the edge of the gauge head and protects your investment very well.

Also, I listened to a previous reviewer and decided not to disassemble the gauge to put the rubber cover on. It was flexible enough to stretch over all parts of the gauge without causing any damage to the gauge or the cover, and no lubrication was needed.

I was never able to remove the brass fitting on the air pressure guage to properly install the sleeve. I wound up cutting part of the sleeve to get it on

5.0 out of 5 stars You can remove hose!, October 15, 2009
This review is from: Moroso 89590 Tire Pressure Gauge Cover (Misc.)
You need a 9/16" wrench to HOLD the hose fitting at release button. I used an adjustable wrench for better grip on the bottom of the gauge itself (it's 5/8" if you want a fixed wrench). You need to hold down (brace) the 9/16 wrench (I used the arm of a couch) while turning the upper wrench counter clockwise. I actually was bearing DOWNWARDS on that one. Be patient..it will gradually loosen. I really think this is the way to go, since I didn't want to risk tearing the cover itself. If you absolutley can't remove the hose, then try pulling the cover over the hose. It's best to try and pull the hose off first though.

3.0 out of 5 stars Yes, you really do need it!, July 28, 2009

It really does protect the gauge and I'm happy I bought it.
Be careful when installing it, because it can tear the rubber around
the square hole when putting it on.
For something that's supposed to be heavy duty I think it shouldn't
tear when putting it on.
Thankfully it didn't tear all the way through!
The tearing when I put it on is why I only rated it 3 stars,
and another reason it should come with this already on it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very easy to install, January 20, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Moroso 89590 Tire Pressure Gauge Cover (Misc.)
I don't know if the product has changed, but putting this gauge cover on was very easy. It literally took less than a minute. It was not necessary to remove the gauge's hose or lubricate the cover as the instructions and other reviewers suggest. The gauge cover is very elastic and could be easily manipulated into place. My only complaint is the color. The one I received is a light blue, and the coloring is inconsistant. I think this cover is a must to protect a high quality gauge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality rubber boot, January 18, 2012

Great quality boot.

Not much to say except that when I purchased it I didn't see the size info at the bottom of the page (2 5/8 in. OD x 1 1/8 in.)... It was no good for my application and was returned.

However, I did post some pictures against a ruler to help you figure out if it will fit your application. See customer images.
