Two years before Mitch Albom wrote his bestselling book Tuesdays with Morrie, Ted Koppel did a series of three interviews with the extraordinary Morrie Schwartz for ABC's Nightline. Schwartz, a retired sociology professor from Brandeis University, was dying of Lou Gehrig's disease; before he passed away, he wanted to share the wisdom that comes from the experience of knowing you are going to die, and to give advice to others on how to behave when facing death. His most important message--choose how you want to confront your death, and don't let go of that--comes through over and over in everything Schwartz says and does. Consistently cheerful, remarkably clear, and mentally strong, Schwartz touches with his special view of the world. Although in each interview he is progressively sicker, his words are uplifting and meaningful. With bluntness he tells Koppel of his physical situation, and the two grow obviously fond of each other. Both sad and wise, this video is a must-see, as it is an experience we all shall face, hopefully with the grace and attitude of Morrie Schwartz. --Jenny Brown

I am a sociolgy instructor at SUNY New Paltz. I use the book, the feeling and the emmotion of morrie. Is strive to be like him daily. Wathing this interview was stunning, and has placed my life into a higher place. Morrie continues to be a mentor for me and this video was the icing on the cake
