5.0 out of 5 stars The Bible of Morris Dancing, April 13, 2000

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Morris Book: With a Description of Dances As Performed by the Morrismen of England (Hardcover)
This is *the* seminal work in the obscure, but highly entertaining art of Morris dancing. All other authors writing aboiut Morris dancing include this work in their bibliography. There have, of course, been differences of opinion about the veracity of his descriptions of the dances. One's memory can only hold so much, but he was basically the first person to formalize the dances and traditions on paper and much of the modern revival of the dance traditions can be credited to his work in preserving it.
