80% of the furniture in our house is from Ikea, and this chair is a click above some of the nicest solid wood Ikea furniture we have. You have to be careful when putting this chair together as the wood is soft and chips/cracks easily if you over-tighten the screws. It assembles quickly using 6 large screws for the frame and around 8 screws for the seat. I would recommend a little wood glue on the screw-hole covers and the seat pegs as they dont stay in very well with friction alone.

The "leather" is a leather veneer over a vinyl-like backing. Feels and looks great but I must admit I worry about the durability. It doesnt smell much like leather. It feels like those soft-buttery kidskin leather jackets.

As the other reviews have stated, its the best chair you will find for the money, especially if you want a Morris/Mission Style rocker.

We had looked at several rockers in this style, but everywhere else they were 799 or 899...this price was super, and 2 day UPS shipping was FREE!!! Easy to assemble,(best with 2 people), nice stained nyatoh wood looks like oak, and the leather is smooth and rich looking. I would not hesitate to recommend this item.

This chair was a perfect alternative to registering for leather club chairs and being the subject of ridicule and horror from family and friends. The quality of the piece is wonderful. The leather is soft (as opposed to other plastic-y fakes) and the wood frame is sturdy and heavy. The groom-to-be put it together without calling off the wedding, so no problems there. He did have some trouble with the wooden pegs that are supposed to cover up the screws--they don't fit well into the holes, even with a hammer. Still, we are both very, very impressed. When we've been married for 50 years, will I be passing the chair down to my grandchildren? MAYBE--I see this piece as less of a long-term, heirloom kind of piece, and more a 'starter' piece. BUT, you never know...the quality is definitely there.
