A Great Beginning,
By
This review is from: The Morrow Stone (Chronicles of Aesirium - a Young Adult Steampunk Adventure) (Kindle Edition)
I've read several of Mr. Cummins short stories, but this is the first full length novel. I have to say, I'm very impressed. The author brings you into a world where Magic and Steam Tech collide, and melds it so perfectly that you can't imagine it being told any other way. He pays great attention to detail in his descriptions of tech, magic, or surroundings, but always leaves enough mystery to let the reader decide for themselves how it all might actually work. The characters are well developed, but you can tell there's much more to their story. You'll quickly find yourself immersed in their lives, perhaps even concerned for their well being, which I always see as a sign of a good story. The other great thing I found this book to be is genre spanning. It doesn't matter if you're a fan of Fantasy, Steampunk, or Adventure - If you like any of those genre, you'll be pulled into the story in this book. To be honest, I had a really hard time putting this book down once I started. By the time you finish this book, you'll want more from this series, I promise you - I know I do.

I have to say I had no idea what to expect or how good this would be, but it's really good. It's a solid steampunk fantasy (Ren calls it sci-fi, but as Asimov admitted, what does the author know?) with a very interesting premise. Now, like with any good trilogy, I have to wait impatiently for the next one to be finished. Order it! It's only $6.50 and you can read it on any Kindle, iPhone, PC, or Mac.

This series so far has made me enjoy reading again. I have never been able to shut my eyes and see everything in such detail, the author does a great job explaining the entire town and characters in such detail. But I must say this book is even better then the 1st in the series. I am purchasing the 3rd book in the series this evening and I am sure I will not be disappointed at all. To the author if you read these. Thanks for the enjoyment I have gotten out of these books thus far, you have done a great job and would love to see these in a series on TV.

This was a recommendation from a friend, and I am so glad that I took her advice! I loved it so much I bought the second book as soon as I finished the first one! I usually find steampunk a little overly complicated, but this had a great flow through the whole book. Fun, fast read for me.

So I am the super picky reader. If it's crap, I'll let you know. This was an AWESOME read. Perfect blend of magical fantasy sci-fi steampunk! I say great for ages 12+. Some words are BIG words, but any kid can look em up. I literally could NOT put this down. Took it into the kitchen while I was making dinner even. Just started the 2nd and can't wait to see what happens. Buy this book now if you are thinking about it. You won't regret it!

The Morrow Stone is, first and foremost, a fantastic read. The world of Old-Town-on-the-Wall is an intriguing blend of old-school technology and a unique twist on magic. The three main characters are all endearing in their own ways and quickly worm their way into your affections so that you really don't want anything bad to happen to them, although you know that it'd be a pretty darned boring story if they didn't.Suitable for ages from 8-108, The Morrow Stone is a great story for bedtime reading and is adult enough to keep adults engrossed as easily as children. As the first in a trilogy, it also does a great job of hinting at things to come, leaving you hungry to get your hands on the second volume.

I'm not familiar with the Steam Punk genre but that had nothing to do with me enjoying this book. The world that was created was fun to enter and I found myself reading long hours until the book was finished. I couldn't put it down. The only sad thing about it is that now I want book 2! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good fantasy adventure.
