Book Description

June 1, 2006
Many Americans were shocked by the rhetoric and demands voiced during the immigration protests in the Spring of 2006. From Los Angeles to Atlanta, from Phoenix to Chicago, an estimated two million protesters marched in more than fifty cities. They demanded a blanket amnesty for illegal aliens under the banner of "immigrant rights" and insisted that rights now afforded legal immigrants should be granted to those here illegally. Anything short of that was condemned as "racist."

How could the United States have come to such a pitiful condition?

Congressman Tom Tancredo has been the only consistent voice in our government warning Americans of the dangers of failing to secure our borders and fix the nation's immigration system. Five years after the attacks of September 11, 2001, the U.S. government still has done virtually nothing to secure America's borders. The government largely ignores the threats to our safety and sovereignty resulting from its refusal to fix a broken system.

What is happening on our borders is one story, but what is happening within America is even more disturbing. As would-be terrorists plot attacks on our country, vocal advocates of multiculturalism are sapping our strength from within. Together, they form a potent adversary that is as great a threat to our nation as anything we have faced in our history.

As a result, America is in the midst of an identity crisis. As a nation we no longer seem to know who we are or what we believe. Instead of "one nation under God," we are divided, confused, and angry. We need to understand how this has happened and the underlying causes that have us to this divided point.

Tom Tancredo lays out the case that unless the United States changes course, it is headed toward catastrophe. Like the great and mighty empires of the past—"superpowers" that onces stretched from horizon to horizon—America is heading down the road to ruin. Without strong moral leadership, without a renewed sense of purpose, without a rededication to family and community, without shunning the race hustlers and pop-culture sham artists, without protecting our borders, language, and culture, the nation that was once the "land of the free and home of the brave" and the "one last hope of mankind" will repeat the catastrophic mistakes of the past. In Mortal Danger is his prescription for beginning to repair the damage.

5.0 out of 5 stars A powerful book for our time about an important problem for our nation, June 27, 2006
By
William A. Hensler (Holt, Michigan United States) - See all my reviews
(VINE VOICE)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: In Mortal Danger: The Battle for America's Border and Security (Hardcover)
Illegal immigration is one of the biggest problems facing this nation since the terror attacks on 9-11. However, getting Washington D.C. to do anything about it is near impossible.

Actually, this book addresses why illegal immigration is bad for Mexico. Why? It allows the corrupt and rich government of Mexico to ignore reforms to help the majority of their nation. That over looked fact has been bothering this reviewer. While all the free trade and pro-illegal immigration people call the anti-illegal immigration people racists they ignore the fact that the corrupt Mexican goverment is full of crime and oppression. The pro-immigration crowd actually hurts the relatives of the people who come to America.

Tancredo does a great job of telling of the law enforcement problems, the budget problems, and the potential health problems of this huge wave of humanity. Note, the Representative will talk of the great immigration wave of the turn of the 19th Century and how those people had to meet a health screening. Right now there is no health screening for the mass of humanity coming across the border. This nation is asking for a break out of a disease. And Washington does nothing.

Representative Tancredo does a great job giving solutions to the problem. It's quite unfair that illegal immigrants are used to depress the wage scales of working Americans. Employeers should be held criminally responsible for this. If the solutions that Representative Tancredo offers then the USA can control the problem that floods our borders.

If Representative Tancredo solutions are not met then we can look forward to great change in the USA that will not be for the better. We will have a large number of people who will not have loyality to this nation, they have loyality to the customs and traditions of Mexico. And this problem may endanger the future of this nation.

This is a five star book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tancredo 2008!, July 7, 2006
This review is from: In Mortal Danger: The Battle for America's Border and Security (Hardcover)
For those Americans who do not follow politics, (you know who you are) One voice has stood basically alone on Capital Hill leading the battle against illegal immigration. That lone voice has been assaulted with endless criticism from virtually all fronts, ranging from big business to the liberal media. Thank God Tom Tancredo (R-CO) has not withered from the incessant criticism and in the dominion of gloried statesmen such as Samuel Adams and Patrick Henry, has stood fast for what is RIGHT for America. In his book, IN MORTAL DANGER: THE BATTLE FOR AMERICA'S BORDER AND SECURITY, Tancredo brings readers up to date as to why this battle he wages is so critical for America's future.

America has long held a "re-active" stance on issues, particularly where foreign policy is concern. Tancredo encourages taking "pro-active" measures before it's too late. (And that window of opportunity is rapidly closing).

As little as four years ago, Tom Tancredo was a virtual unknown among capital hill members of the House of Representatives. Today, he has successfully formed the 90+ member Immigration Reform Caucus and has established himself firmly as the leader in this important aspect of future generations.

You will find everything here you expect in a book of this nature. All the relevant statistics are included in frightening detail. But Tancredo goes a great deal further than just filling this book with statistics. He uncovers hidden problems associated with failure to act now to illegal immigration, (bankrupt medical facilities, already over-burdened welfare and education systems, not to mention national security risks) as well as dispelling countless myths associated with it (America can't survive without illegal immigrants, there's nothing we can do to stop it, and that anyone favoring stopping illegals is a bigot).

Tancredo clearly shows that he will not worship at the alter of party politics, as he squarely places a great deal of the blame upon the shoulders of President Bush, for not only failing to take action, but for spouting off about the importance of national security, all the while knowing full well that al-Qaeda operatives are actively breeching our porous southern border! It is also rather ironic that we, as a country and as a government, are preaching about destroying corruption in Middle Eastern governments, all the while promoting corruption within our own southern neighbor by not encouraging reform!

This book doesn't stop with simply detailing the problems. Tancredo offers detailed and effective solutions for saving the America we call home. This is quite possibly, the most valuable and critical book to be published this year!

5.0 out of 5 stars "A lightening rod is a sentinel", June 15, 2006
By
This review is from: In Mortal Danger: The Battle for America's Border and Security (Hardcover)
Tom Tancredo's book is one of the most important of our generation. He tackles not just the immigration debate and border security, but the root causes of this problem and the system issues behind it. The book devles into history and investigates the "cult of multiculturalism" and the meaning of citizenship. It is much more than just a campaign book, although it very may well launch a presidential bid for Tancredo, it is a weighty treatise on the changing nature of America and what it will take to win this strugle for the very survival of the nation.
