4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent January 6, 2012

Widow, mother, ex-cop, and now private-eye, Dani Perez is about to do something she never thought she would - sleep with a total stranger. She really has no desire to sleep with this guy, but she's doing it to hopefully save the life of her dying nephew, the son of her twin sister Nikki. He is in desperate need of a cord blood transplant, and they believe that this one-night-stand may be Casey's biological father, and a perfect match. She needs to sleep with him to collect his DNA. And Dani will do ANYTHING to save her nephew's life. What she doesn't expect is to have a night that literally leaves her weak in the knees, and secretly wanting more.

Dr. Nathan Randall would do just about anything to get out of his loveless marriage. But his wife holds the purse strings and she refuses to let him go. When he's at home he sleeps in the guest house, and the nights that he's donating his time at the clinic he sleeps at a local hotel, where he meets Sophie, who he believes to be a lady of the night. After an amazing night with Sophie, Dr. Randall decides that regardless of the financial consequences, he is done with his wife. But before he has the chance to tell her, she is found murdered - and he is held responsible for her death.

Not only is Dani trying to save her nephews life, but she's also trying to clear her dead husband Johnny's name. A former cop, killed on the job, he is presumed "dirty" when money is found in a hidden bank account. No one really believes Johny is guilty, but the stink of the IAB investigation won't go away, and in order to receive his benefits, he must be proven innocent. But someone is guilty, and that person has no desire to see the truth come out.

Combining the murder of Nathan's wife, the need to clear Johnny's name, and the desperation to save a little boys life, Liz Roth puts together on hell of a mystery, while at the same time creating a beautiful story about the importance of love, family, and truth - no matter what the cost.

This is a great book. I read it in two sittings. For me, it was a page turner and I had to keep reading to see what was happening next. I fell in love with the characters, chuckled a few times, was kept in suspense and cried when it was over. The way Liz wove this story together was amazing. I sooo enjoyed it. In can't wait for her next one. You will love it!
