5.0 out of 5 stars Shao Kahn's Revenge, June 13, 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mortal Kombat 3 (CD-ROM)
Mortal Kombat 3 released in 1995 was a very hard game fans & just fighting game fans in general to accept. I was really happy to see Mortal Kombat 3 in arcades & I rented it a lot but had to play the arcade version more. Most of the principle characters are back Liu Kang Jax who is now fitted with metal arms which are bad a s s. Shang Tsung Kung Lao Sub Zero who is unmasked in this game Sonya Blade returns. Kano's back. Unfortantly Raiden, Scorpion, Kitana Millena Baraka & Johhny Cage don't return nor does Reptile. Smoke is back as a robot you can play as him with a code. Kintaro doesn't return he's replaced by Motaro. 2 other robot characters Sektor & Cyrax are new & I though Cyrax was Scorpion when I 1st played this game. Sheeva a female Shokan Sindel The Resurrected Queen Of Edina. Kurtis Stryker a Chicago Riot officer A disfigured character named Kabal. A Native American Worrior named Nightwolf are the new additions. After MK II Liu Kang defeated Shao Kahn Jax saved Sonya & Shang Tsung fell out of favor with Shao Kahn again. But Shang Tsung figures a way out Shao Kahn long ago had A Queen named Sindel who was married to this otherguy named King Jerrod whom Kahn had killed he took their Daughter Kitana as his own Sindel killed herself & Shang Tsung resurrects her in Earth relm. Thus giving him the power he needs to open a portal to Earth. Jax & Sonya try to warn The Government but they don't listen. Also an extermination squad has killed Johhny Cage. Thankfully he'd be back in MK Trilogy. Shao Kahn easily takes all the souls except for Liu Kang Jax Sonya Kung Lao Sub Zero Kabal & Nightwolf. More were added in Ultimate MK 3 & MK Trilogy. Raiden wasn't isn't in it cause once Shao Kahn took Earth over he can do nothing. All the fighters travel west to meet Nightwolf basically to stop Shao Kahn & Shang Tsung but it will be difficult you have to deal with Sheeva, Sindel Sektor Cyrax Shang Tsung & Motaro. If you thought that Goro & Kintaro was hard Motaro was nightmare back in the day. Sub Zero has been marked for death by his clan he has help from Smoke who was brainwashed & turned into a cyborg. Jax & Sonya are going to try & get Kano once & for all. Stryker wants his city to be what it once was a city populated by millions. Liu Kang & Kung Lao want to make it the last time. Mortal Kombat 3 does get hate cause it has a combo system or " It has a run button." It was needed to change with the times. Although Shao Kahn is very difficult no he's a pain in the a s s with the war hammer. Mk 3 introduced animalities. The openings art work & endings are great some of the best in the series. Part of the problem was they were on a deadline & needed to get to arcades. This game was ported to all the systems at the time SNES, Genesis Playstation, I'm sure SNES was great. Genesis version of all The Mortal Kombat games that were on The Genesis it was the best looking. But as before Arcade is the way to go. MAME or if you have a Playstation 2 or X BOX ut's on Midwat Arcade Tresures 2 it has MK II as well. So I'll review Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 next with returning characters.
