5.0 out of 5 stars Good book but different book cover, September 11, 2010

The book was different from the movie but that is quite common for books. It also had a different book cover than the one displayed here. I don't know what this means but it was still a good buy.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit dimmed down and small, but not TOO bad...., May 16, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book actually caught me by surprise. The book is very small, about as thick as a pancake. After reading the novel adeptation of the first film, I excepted it to be about just as long or longer. It isn't.

If you are a Mortal Kombat fan, I say check it out, but be aware, there's is nothing too special about this book. It's basically a dimmed down version of the original movie itself.

Also....The book has pictures of the live action movie inside...too bad some of the characters names are wrong on the picture descriptions....it's a bit comical but ehhh.... they should have did some research....

3.0 out of 5 stars Mortal Kombat at it's... almost best., August 23, 1998

Mortal Kombat Annihilation, putting the competitive context of the movie aside, is an overall average book. Since it was never said whether the book was based on the video game or the original storyline, I will have to judge it as a regular fan of Mortal Kombat in general. The plus sides were the things put into the book that were missing from the original, such as Sub-Zero and Scorpion actually fighting eachother, instead of teaming up to fight off the good guys. Extra kombatants were finally added into the story, such as Jax, Cyrax, etc. Even some fatalities make appearances in the book. The minus sides, however, are almost equal to the plus sides, for example, Mortal Kombat's popularity is not as much a result of it's fighting content, but of it's controversial blood. Putting it simply, the book has no real bloodshed, taking away from the Kombat genre. Another downside was the climatic ending... I cannot go into detail on that one simply because I don't want to ruin the book for anyone. Let me just say that the ending was great, but it could have been written a little differently... I hope you have a good imagination. In closing, I have to say that Jerome Preisler is an overall average writer who has written a well-done story. This book deserves my 3 stars. May the kombat kontinue...
