5.0 out of 5 stars Mortal Kombat Kontinues, June 13, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mortal Kombat II (PC) (CD-ROM)
In 1993 Mortal Kombat II was released this time you go after Shao Kahn. Most of the principle characters come back Liu Kang, Sub Zero Scorpion, Raiden Johnny Cage, Shang Tsung who became playable Reptile who is now more of his own character with his own moves. New are Jax Kitana Millena Kung Lao & Baraka. Also you get hidden characters to fight like Jade Noob Saibot & Smoke. I heard that there was guy named Red Robin but if it was a character it was probably an error like Ermac. No Goro he's dead or so we think he's been replaced by a bigger meaner faster version Kintaro. MK II was the 1st MK game I played when I rented The SNES version I later got a copy on The Genesis I played this 1 the most over MK 1, 3 or 4. I played the arcade version more. If you play MK 1 you have to play MK II they just go hand in hand. The story is Shao Kahn is pi ss e d off at Shang Tsung for not winning The Mortal Kombat Tournament Shang Tsung begs for his life as seen in the opening. Shao Kahn grants Shang Tsung more power when he heard that he kidnapped 2 fighter from the previous game Sonya & Kano Jax is connected to it Jax is Sonya's partner in The Special Forces & of course Kano is the serial killer & crime lord that Sonya was after in MK 1. Jax is going to question Johnny Cage Shang Tsung challenges them to a new Tournament. You then have Liu Kang enter to stop Shang Tsung once & for all & stop Shao Kahn from getting control of Earth Realm. Shang Tsung is up to other tricks Millena as we all know is an evil clone of Kitana made by Shang Tsung Kitana finds out & helps Liu Kang & the others. Scorpion thought that he had killed Sub Zero who was responsible for murdering his family. But this is a different Sub Zero more on that in UMK3. Reptile believes that Shao Shang will bring back his original race. Jade becomes more important in UMK3 as does Smoke. Baraka would get a bigger character in later sequels. MK II is a classic & John Tobias wrote a good storyline for a fighting game. They added new finishers babalities & friendships & they just upped the gore. It got ported again & again to The SNE & Genesis Sega 32X PC Sega Saturn PS1 in Japan. If you still have a SNES it was great port Nintendo finally man'd up left the gore in well except for The Super Famicom version. 32X was a solid port Saturn I've heard mixed things on it. Playstation 1 was Japan only & will cost big bucks I think. Genesis was good except for the sound. If you have a PS2 X BOX or Gamecube Midway Arcade Tresures 2 has MK II & 3. Or of course there's MAME.SNES Arcade & 32X are the best versions. Now I know I didn't do this game justice. MK 3 will be next & Shao Kahn doesn't care about the rules.
