5.0 out of 5 stars Mortal Kombat Krazy!
The first Mortal Kombat was simply awesome. Who ever thought a better game could be made? Midway did everything they could to make the second installment of the Mortal Kombat series the best, and it was. They improved the graphics, sound, characters, character moves, and the gameplay. This is a definite buy for all Genesis owners.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mortal Kombat 2 review
Mortal Kombat 2 for Sega Genesis is a good game, but far from perfect. MK2 on the Super Nintendo blows this one away! On this game, the music and sound fx are a bit bland. The graphics aren't so bad. The fatalities look fairly good, but compared to the ones on the SNES version, they seem a bit lame. Like whenever you blow your opponent up, instead of their bones & body...

MK II........simply perfection.
Ups the first game in every way imaginable.
Better gameplay.
Better graphics.
More fatalities.
Probably one of the more strategy oriented versions of MK.
Less about dial a combos and more about fast and frantic juggles.
A must play for MK fans.
Highly recommended.

Absolutley love this game, in my opinion its the greatest fighting game ever created! I still own and play it and wouldnt part with it for any reason. As a youngster growing up in the arcade fighting game era in the early 90s I spent many hours popping quarters in Mortal Kombat and MK2 machines until the wonderfull christmas that I received my sega genesis, with MK 1 and 2 and street fighter 2 champions edition. The 32x port of this game was IMO the best arcade to console version of this title (although I have heard the saturn version was a bit better, but I never owned a saturn) Personally i always prefered the genesis ports of the fighting games and this one did not dissapoint. Strongly reccomend it to any genesis or fighting game collector, and the only reason i would reccomend chosing this title on any other system is if the buyer owns the genesis 32x adapter (I have genesis and the 32x versions, and the 32x version is an almost arcade perfect port) but i cant say id recomend buying the 32x adapter just for this game as there really werent many good games for it, genesis version was awesome enough!

4.0 out of 5 stars NOTHING! NOTHING CAN PREPARE YOU!, October 12, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mortal Kombat II (Video Game)
The sequel for the arcade smash hit was pretty good on the Sega Genesis. For one thing the game-play is top-notch and the graphics aren't terrible, the fatalities are pretty cool and the stages are done well (except living forest and the tomb I'll get to that later).

The game is really tough so you better have quick reflexes and lots a patience, all of the characters from the arcade are selectable along with a couple of secret characters called SMOKE and Smokin! Hot babe JADE! There are a few things though that really bring this port down though.

Probably the biggest is the sound, instead of having crystal clear roars and unique sounds that made the MKII in the arcade ground breaking are not present here unfortunately. The music is also pretty wierd, it sounds like a drunk dude trying to jam out on a satar and a drum machine, wierd I know lol. Stages like the living forest the trees don't roar, and also when you select your character their names aren't announced like in the arcade; in fact there is very little speech in this game all together.

Honestly if you want a really good version of this game grab the SNES or the rarely talked about 32X version that is also really awesome. There is also a port of this game on the Saturn and the PlayStation and those are good too.

Like whenever you blow your opponent up, instead of their bones & body parts splattering all over the ground, they simply disappear whenever landing on the ground! That really stinks!! The only reason I give this game 3 stars instead of 2 is because the game features a secret cheat option, which is pretty cool. The SNES version of MK2 doesn't have a darn cheat option. The bottom line: if you want an enjoyable version Mortal Kombat 2, buy it on the Super Nintendo (SNES).

5.0 out of 5 stars Still the best MK, October 26, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mortal Kombat II (Video Game)
No Mortal Kombat since has been as good as this one and the Genisis version was the best console home version by far. The graphics are awesome and the gameplay is second to none. The snes version has better graphics somewhat but the gameplay is nowhere near as good and the AI is twice as cheap which Midway MK games is famous for except for MK1, MKII and MKA. MK3 sucked and was to cheesy and cheap to even play even though I can beat it.
