Product Description

The game that rocked the world and changed arcade-style fighting forever returns in all its splendor. Choose from twelve unique characters (some familiar faces have returned from the original, but a few new combatants make for spiced-up action), as you try to pummel your computer-controlled opponents to death. Each character has special moves that only he or she can pull off, making the game full of plenty of surprises...and blood. As with the original, whichever character wins the battle gets the opportunity to complete a Fatality, which is every bit as violent as it sounds. There's a reason that this game was so overwhelmingly popular, and the cold-blooded, hand-to-hand combat is as fun today as it was when it first came out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best version of MK 2 November 24, 2008
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Mortal Kombat 2 is the game that used the idea of the first game and made it better, added more fatalities, improved graphics, and more blood. This game was so fun to play in the arcades when arcades were popular. This game is a lot better than the Sega Genesis version that I also own,the fighters are bigger, graphics are closest to the arcade than other ports of the game. The sound is way better than other versions of the game because its on a disc rather than on a cartridge, but some of the sounds are not present, like Scorpion doesn't always say "get over here" only sometimes, but not that big of a deal.

Pros: fighters are bigger, better sound, saturn controller is perfect for this game, closest version that looks close to the arcade, fighting is simple and easy to learn, lots of fatalities, and intense fights keeps things interesting.

Cons: A.I. has cheap fight tactics, hard to do fatalities, could of been arcade perfect

I remember playing the first Mortal Kombat on my Sega Genesis and I loved it. I next got MK II on my ( don't judge me ) Sega 32X and loved that even more, but when MK II came out on the Saturn, I was in 32 bit digital fighting heaven. MK II was ported to a slue of home systems, like Sega Genesis, Sega CD, ( Arrrugggh ) 32X, Game Gear, SNES, PC, Playstation, Amiga, and ( ta-ta ) the Sega Saturn. I remember when it first came out in the arcades, it blew me away with the game-play and graphics. The line would be up to ten kids deep just to play it, and there would be ten to fifteen kids ( and adults ) just standing there watching them play because it was just so damn cool. We were hoping for a glimpse of one of the hidden characters, or one of the new fatality finishing moves. As in MK 1, you have as playable characters: Johnny Cage, Raiden, Sub-Zero, Shang Tsung, Reptile, Scorpion, and Liu Kang. Debuting: Kitana, Mileena, Baraka, and Kung Lao. There are also hidden opponents: Jade, Smoke, and Noob Saibot. ( ooooh ) Sonya and Kano are not playable characters in this port, but you do see them chained and on display as Kahn's prisoners in his arena stage. I do kind of miss the " Test Your Might " bonus game from MK 1, but MK II has so much more in the game I'll get over it! Each player has two fatalities to use, plus the all new Friendship and Babalitie moves which can be very funny at times. My two favorite players to do battle with are Kitana and Baraka, they kick ass in my books. ( especially with my Eclipse fighting stick ) The graphics are big, colorful, and crisp. The sound F/X is awesome, and the voice-overs are as good as it gets. There is a minor loading problem, ( It's a bit slow ) but not bad enough to worry about, because when the game is this good, it's all good! Read more ›

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the greatest but...... November 11, 2011
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Mortal Kombat 2 is the best in the series,(before MK 2011), The game play was better, the graphics were better, the sound was better. This version is better than the Sega Genesis version and the Super Nes version, but the area where it lacks compared to the arcade port is the loading time and the sound. The loading time is kinda long but not too bad, the sound misses a lot of the nostalgic classics compared to the arcade. Scorpion's "GET OVER HERE!!" is only present every-so-often and the fatality music is not present, and the rest is not the same as the original. The music for each stage is more along the lines of a MIDI version rather than the actual tracks themselves. If you want a better classic experience, your better off purchasing "Midway Arcade Treasures 2" for Playstation 2 or X-box or purchasing online the "Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection" on the X-box360 or Playstation Network. Those are "arcade perfect".

A Kid's Review
I think this video game is really cool because it helps you with hand eye coordination and the way they make it seem so real and use so many good ideas for fighters is so radical, but if you have to fight the guy with a horse behind and a human front its really hard because he kicks and you have to monuver in a way so you can beat him. One of my favorite ones is katana because withher fan blade slaughter move it is so cool and the fatality is really awesome. My other favorite one is scorpion because is spear move is so totally awesome. I would recommend you to buy this game or at least play it.
