5.0 out of 5 stars Mortal Kombat 2 is the best, April 15, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mortal Kombat II (Video Game)
I have had a game gear since the early 90s. My first game was Mortal Kombat 2. I had already had The 1st one on sega but this was even better. There were more charecters. They took away Johnny Cage,Sonya, And Kano I didnt mind. The playable charecters are Lui Kang,Rayden,Sub-Zero,Kitana,Mileena, Scorpion,Reptile,Shang Sung and Jax. It is so great. The boss is Shao
Kahn. I still have trouble beating him. It is such a great game. The best fights i've been in were Sub-zero vs Scorp.,reptile vs sub zero,Scorp vs Reptile, and Kitana vs Mileena. Reptile always comes out on top.
Here are how i rate the charecters.
Liu Kang-He is a strong one but he never beats Shao
Jax- He is unstopible
Scorpion- Hardly ever beaten
Kitana- He fans easily kill opponients
Mileena- Very strong her daggers destroy all
Reptile- No one can defeat him the green slime is so cool
Sub Zero- His ice blast is strong
Rayden-Easily defeats all the rest
Shang- His transformations make him strong
In 2 words great game.

4.0 out of 5 stars The pinnacle arrives on Game Gear, March 24, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mortal Kombat II (Video Game)
Mortal Kombat II was always known as the pinnacle of the long-running series (To think Mortal Kombat 9 is coming). While MK2 dominated arcades and home consoles once again, the question is: Did it do well on Game Gear? It wasn't probably sold as much as the game's console cousins, but the game was actually pretty good.

In fact, it's a lot like the Game Boy version. They both have the same layouts, the same menus, and even a bit of the same gameplay. The Game Boy version goes at a smoother pace, though. The Game Gear version does have blood, too, if that adds to your appeal.

You choose your character (out of 8) and fight 10 other fighters, each with their own abilities. This goes for all of the Mortal Kombat games (Not in these specific #s though). The gameplay is pure arcade fighting on the go. The graphics are awesome, and the sounds/music were great.

The downside, however, is the fact that there are only a few arenas in this port, and their background musics are swapped. Plus, the game could be beaten in about 10 minutes or so. But, is it worth replaying? Yes. It truly is.

just like in the old days, i had to blow into the game to get it to play the first time but thats to be expected. game play was excellent, it really shows you how far fighting games have come yet how great mk2 already was for its time and even now. if you want a challenge play this game and the other old mortal kombat games and not mash the buttons

This is a much better version than the first mortal kombat game on the GAME GEAR. It is closer to the consule versions released than the first game was. It has all the characters, smoother animations, better graffics, cooler stages, and better music. I give it a 5 out of 5! Get this game!

5.0 out of 5 stars MKII in all its glory, January 13, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mortal Kombat II (Video Game)
MKII was the sequal to the urtal violent arcade game, mortal kombat. On the game gear only 8 of the cahracters are here, each with one fatality and a stage fatality. The graphics are incredibal and but a little dark. There are only two levels and acctually some blood and guts, unlike the gameboy version, and the fatalities look nice. So what is so great about this game, its the gameplay, raw gameplay. Everything moves smooth and it is actually fun. If you like MK you will love this, it is one of the best portable conversions to date.
